Got home this evening to a letter from Natwest stating they will be closing all bank accounts for folk who live overseas.
We kept the account open just incase we ever considered moving back as it would be hard to obtain credit, cars, mortgages etc without an account.

At Heathrow, knackered, just want to be home. Sat at bastard baggage carousel for over an hour and still no sign of the thing starting up. Looking at the news seems there are delays of several hours today, no explanation.

You wonder if things will ever get back to normal or systems are just permanently broken now. Queues for lost luggage etc massive.

Sat in the plane for 2 hours last night waiting to take off at Manchester airport. No explanation, just said delays. Whole system is totally broke.

About an hour and a half in the end which by all accounts means got off lightly.

As irritating as it was, at least we could wait. The piles of abandoned luggage must be from passengers with connecting flights. If you’ve got a connecting flight at the moment you either miss it or go without your luggage. No in between. What a choice.

More worrying though, there was no sense of panic or urgency from the ‘staff’ (there were hardly any. Didn’t see any security staff of police either). Random piles of suitcases all over and God knows how many of those will go missing and never find their owner.
It was as though the systems had just collapsed and no one cared anymore.

You have to wonder what people think of this country, coming a major international airport and being faced with that. Fuck me, this is the face of this new independent Britain. I know you shouldn’t take it personally but I found it embarrassing. It’s a shambles.

Meh, it’s pretty similar everywhere at the moment. Certainly at the large hubs - schipol is utter carnage. Friend got there 4 hours early for a flight 2 weeks ago, still missed it.

Ahh ok, gotcha.

All airlines flying out of terminals 2 and 3 today have been asked to cancel 10% of flight, around 15000 people affected. Sleazy jet this morning saying flights likely to be cancelled all summer so clearly no thought this is just a short glitch. Supposed to be flying from Gatwick in 10 days so let’s see. Delays are one thing, cancellations quite another.

Flew Austrian, to/from Vienna, their end ran like clockwork.

There were some brutal queues at passport control in Prague yesterday. I was getting annoyed and going to have a whinge but then realised that the people in front we’re all refugees from Ukraine.

Email on Friday from some recruitment agency saying they have this role which they think will be perfect for me. Nice of them.
Looked at the role, even though I am not actively looking to change my job thought I would see where it goes as it pays more. So emailed to confirm my interest.

Just had a reply telling me that sadly they cannot consider me for this role based on my CV....the same fucking CV they declared my great match up to the role. Time wasting fuckers.

Stopped responding to them in the end, just people trying to get bums on seats for interviews however tenuous the link, my favourite was the one who was convinced I'd be an ideal candidate to work in a company who specialises in Airfreight despite the fact I have zero knowledge on the subject, even telling them I only organise ships, containers and trailers was met with, you could just go for the interview experience ?? To be honest that might have been Jinky as he told me if I wasn't successful I could just blame Jeff Shi

I have to have two wisdom teeth out soon. Both are worn away to buggery so will need to go under anaesthetic and have the NHS hack away at the gums to get them out. Not looking forwards to that.

Last one I had out the NHS had to refer me to Nuffield Heath in Derby due to long waiting lists, and that went like an absolute breeze.
