If you look at who he signed in his last year with Burnley it was a tall centre forward, a left winger, a strong centre back and a full back with legs (Weghorst, Cornet, Collins and Roberts) for about 45m. There isn't an alternative style hidden away, when he's had the opportunity and finances to do that he's chosen not to. He is what he is
Weghorst was bought as a replacement for Wood, they were in a relegation battle, hardly the time to change style.

I’d take Cornet over Hwang, Guedes and post-injury Neto, so hardly a stick to beat him with.

Collins doubled in value in 12 months.

Robert’s has looked ok when I’ve seen him. I’d take him over Jonny now.

I’m not banging a drum for Dyche but these four signings are hardly a reason to write him off.

That's not what I said though.

It's not about the quality of the signings it's about the perception that he only played a certain style because of the players he had, but he only ever signed players to suit that style. That is him

Picking another year at random 2019/20. Josh Brownhill, Jay Rod, Erik Pieters and Danny Drinkwater. Same pattern. Legs in midfield, centre forward who is good in the air and tough tacking full back

Of the he four players you named only Weghorst fits the Dyche stereotype. Every team wants a strong CH, Cornet would fit well in many PL teams and Robert’s was a good value fullback.

The players not having a fucking clue who is coming in or when is also bound to be affecting confidence. Who will come in? What system will he play? Will I be surplus to requirements? Will he be a no-one and fail to inspire the dressing room? Will he be a total wrong 'un and insist The Inbetweeners is anything other than utter dreck etc etc

I don't doubt that Davis is doing his best but it's such a difficult job when the squad are so low on confidence, playing beneath themselves and have looked lost for months and still don't know what the medium term will look like.

This could have been avoided with some proactive decisions in the summer but hey ho - that didn't happen and now we look a right mess.

Quite looking forward to the World Cup TBH despite the fact it shouldn't be happening. Just so I can have a break from Wolves stuff.

I live for this shit on Twitter

If we had to agree that for the next few weeks he could be going back to see his dad every week for 2/3 days until that situation resolved, I'd take that as opposed to what we have at the moment. Not Ideal but so long as he was here a couple of days before each game and leave instructions with the rest of the coaching staff. I'd like to think that if we are still pursuing this manager then that would be the latest approach. Get us through to the WC.

I don’t tend to agree. He’s signing players that fit the style they have. They’re not a team who can afford a massive overhaul. Signing 1 or 2 players who don’t fit in with the mould of the majority, especially when you are battling relegation every year, wouldn’t work.

Also factor in the fact of Burnley not really being an overly attractive proposition, I don’t see too much of what more he could have done.

Not saying he is the messiah, or a naughty boy, just that he isn’t necessarily ‘what he is’

We’re a great example of being a more attractive proposition in the championship because of our connections (uncle Jorge) than Burnley in the prem, for example

I think any team in the PL is a more attractive proposition than any team in the Championship. We were an outlier, a complete anomoly when we brought in the likes of Neves, Jota and Boly and romped the league. I'd very much doubt if we went down that it would happen again, players want to play in the Premier League, not hope to get there and bet on everything falling into place to make it happen. What happened to us will probably never happen again in my lifetime, Neves and Jota shouldn't have been anywhere near here in that league.

Is that who I think it is as your new avatar ?

I think with Burnley the players they signed very much seemed to fit a hard wage cap they had imposed.

So whilst they spent resources on fees they looked like they were never out the bottom 3 on wage spend from a quick search (I know that's not always accurate but it's a start most of the sites having them so low)

There’s a lot of factor that would’ve had an impact. One might be that as Big Tony says, that is all Dyche is. I just don’t necessarily subscribe to that.

Is he my first choice and someone I’d be excited to have? No and not really.

Would I rather have him in place, or had him in place as soon as Lage was gone? Absolutely.

Yeah that's probably where I have ended up, despite being very sneery to all the people suggesting him as the candidate right at the very start.

Still not sure he'd have done a lot more than Davis until January at the earliest, we simply don't have the players. As it stands we don't have 1 CF let alone 2. If he didn't change his style in 10 years at Burnley he isn't going to come here and try and implement anything different in a relegation battle.

When we sacked Lage if I was offered Dyche in the dugout against Chelsea or Davis for an undetermined period into the future the absolute minimum of which was 9 league games then yes I'd have gone for the former, but there's practically no manager who you'd say is a credible option who I wouldn't have preferred to give that chance to in that binary choice.

The issue is the fuck up around the recruitment not the none appointment of Dyche or anyone else unsuitable

Perhaps, if Dyche is available next season,
perhaps, if we go down,
perhaps, if/when we lose our top players,
and perhaps if it means a complete rebuild.....................................we could become the next Burnley!

Who do you think it is?
Looks a bit like Mark....
Looks a bit like '...The Moon Under Water' or whatever it's called.
And if I'm right it's because I took the photograph.
And if I took the photo there'll be quite a few of us uglies in the wider frame...
But then again, if it's not....

The former Sevilla player remains Wolverhampton owner Jeff Shi's No. 1 choice. Although he has come to receive the no of the Spanish on two occasions, which forced him to bet on Steve Davis until the end of the course, the leader is not satisfied with the results harvested and wants it to be the former Porto, Sevilla and Real Madrid who takes the reins.

To convince him, he has offered him a millionaire contract, total control of the sports management and a strong investment in the winter market. In the coming days there will be a new meeting in which Wolves hope to convince Lopetegui, who after a few weeks of stoppage in his career could return to the bench with an attractive project at the same time risky.
