I dont see a lack of 'grit' being our major issue. A lack of quality in forward areas is the issue, both creating and finishing chances. Grit won't sort that out
Really? Whenever we go a goal down you can visibly see the confidence drain out of the players.

You could, though to be fair in the brentford game I don't think this happened. Getting a goal back quickly had a big positive impact I thought.

Leipzig under Marco Rose:

One of those losses was at Real Madrid when he hadn't even been there a week. He's beaten them at home since.

He was free in the summer. Unemployed. Ready to take a new job.

We kept Bruno fucking Lage.

The longer this goes on the more my mind begins to wonder about Dyche, is his time at Burnley so ingrained that style is all he is? Or could he have a similar Howe style shift when with a different team with better resources. Probably not but it's late and I am bored.

I had no idea if he had managed anyone other than Burnley and went to check his wiki, and the photo of him appears to be doing a press conference at Wolves which if nothing else seems odd that is the photo someone would upload.
I think dyche has nailed himself into a manager who can only do one thing and play one way.

I wouldn’t be necessarily against giving him
The job, but neither am I for, if that makes sense.

Afterall, the football was dier at Burnley but he didn’t have the technical players there to play a more expansive style. One of those unanswered questions of what can he do with better players…

If you look at who he signed in his last year with Burnley it was a tall centre forward, a left winger, a strong centre back and a full back with legs (Weghorst, Cornet, Collins and Roberts) for about 45m. There isn't an alternative style hidden away, when he's had the opportunity and finances to do that he's chosen not to. He is what he is

Yep. You'd most likely end up with a similar situation as Pulis where he decided Serge Gnabry was not as good as Chris Brunt and not good enough for West Brom.

Fonseca at Lille:

More of a mixed bag in terms of results but not bad, they're two points behind Marseille and Monaco, two points ahead of Lyon. Loads of goals.

Close links to Mendes so please don't tell me we couldn't have got him with a promise of "we'll spend £100m+ and not sell Neves/Neto". Again, a strong manager (as Nuno was) just rejects the crap (like Guedes), a weakling half-page CV twat like Lage gets no say.

In fairness, they got better value than we do. We end up with Guedes and Hwang, I'd much rather have Cornet.

Agree with that. Cornet was perfect for us as he can play in a couple of positions and we love a good multi purpose player

Really. Our major issue is lack of goals. You can add as much grit as you want, it won't mean we should score
Didn't say goals weren't an issue. I don't see how we score goals with our players as fragile as they are though.

I don't see how bawling at them and telling them to get stuck in helps there? Or turns the clock back to 1983 somehow?

I would say they are fragile but bawling won't sort them out. Seen it enough over the years at Wolves where you watch a game and you see the moment they stop fighting and just want the game to end.

We managed to install something back in our game on Saturday which is impressive following up on a game where that fight fucked off before the North Bank did (is that still a topical Wolves joke?).

It's not about that, and I haven't advocated that. It's about being able to play under pressure, having confidence and belief in their own abilities - that's what grit means to me anyway. To coin a phrase, being brave enough to play and not hide away when the going gets tough, having the resilience to still believe a result is possible when going 0-1 down.

It's not about shouting and balling and clattering into people.

A lack of confidence is being confused with grit. We collapse on conceding because we've spent the last half a season being beaten week in week out. You aren’t going to restore that confidence by giving them a bollocking or telling them to man up

Well, that's what the other guy said and what people are railing against.

We drew 1-1 on Saturday after going a goal down and didn't give up against Palace when we went 2-1 down. As I say, we're a bit better under Davis than we were under Lage. Which given that Davis is a League Two manager underlines how awful Lage was.

I haven't said we should be bollocking them and telling them to man up, merely that we should be more mentally resilient. I'd also say being mentally resilient would improve confidence.

Its a difficult thing to do though.
