Hi all!

Reading everyone's messages on here the past few weeks made me wonder what the collective opinion on this is.
I may have read it completely wrong and everyone will end up voting one way - but still thought this would be an interesting question:

Who do we all think has the higher ceiling? Pedro Neto or Diogo Jota?

Cheers!!

Add a poll. But Neto for me.

Gonna be an asshole and abstain, because for me the answer is "pretty much the same". Different kinds of players, though, and that includes consistency - Jota's peaks are higher than Neto's, but his troughs are lower as well.

For reference, I actually voted for Jota.

I'm not sure if it's just personal opinion that is blinding me and that Jota has particular attributes such as the direct running and aggression, plus always being the focal point for a wonderful Neves diagonal that is leading me much more towards him, or if I genuinely believe he's better/has a higher ceiling.

Neto has the potential to be a fantastic player - I think he will score more goals and create more than Diogo, whilst still working hard.

Diogo has been great for us, but Neto has more potential.

People will go for Neto because Jota isn't here anymore, but I personally think Diogo has the higher ceiling.

Jota for me also

Not to say Neto doesn't have huge potential himself. I'm very excited about his development this season.

Their attributes make it difficult to directly compare. In the way we are currently playing be that 343 or the lopsided 3412 that we've seen then Neto is more suited, as he is if the focus is moving to ball retention rather than playing on the counter.

In terms of who I think will have more caps, score more goals and win more honours at the end of their respective careers then I'd go for Diogo.

Diogo all day long for me.

Still gutted that he's gone.

I think Jota probably has a higher ceiling in the abstract, but (and this is key) Neto will be able to reach greater heights in our system than Jota would.

Different styles as said so hard to compare.

Neto has more technical ability as in crossing, shooting, FKs and better ball control.

But Jota also has his unique ball control where he beats players and bundles his way through through pure balance and body movement than actual work on the ball itself.

Jota also has better instincts and movement. But being 3.5 years older with tons more senior experience, this is to be expected.

It’s a big year for Neto where he can bridge the gap, but Jota has “runs on the board” so even if Neto on paper has better ability/potential there’s no guarantee that always happens.

At the moment they both have aspects where they outshine the other.

I would say Neto looks like he'll become the more rounded player to me, whether that accounts to better is probably dependent on multiple other factors but for me I'd rather have Neto.

Neither of them is particularly tall, so I would imagine that their ceilings are similar and very much sufficient - seriously, think it's too early to call and also difficult to draw a comparison between them. Firmly on the fence on this one....

I’ve gone Neto. He seems better on the ball and has a deadly set piece delivery. If he can sort his goal scoring out by the time he’s Diogo’s age then he’ll be a hell of a player.

Tough to vote on this given that Diogo has now gone. Add in the couple of goals that PN had chalked off by VAR and his stats look quite good already. But will he ever simply run straight through a player like prime Diogo used to? Probably not. I'll vote for Neto, just, on the grounds that he might just be able to play more positions than Jota

And if you add another poll, Vitinha or Fabio Silva I'll unhesitatingly go for the former

Is Neto going to be the main focus in the three. A lot of love for Podence to do a hell of a lot more and Traore we all know loves to set the Mexican Magician up..

Podence is already top class, if he gets any better we’re in for a right treat.

Podence is class, much higher potential than Neto imo (not to disservice Neto, I think he'll do really well).
