Manchester United (A) 22.09.2018

Can't stand football fans like this. Patronising wankers who clearly know nothing about us. I can't wait for us to burst a few of their bubbles tomorrow.

pretty funny. "they're currently a top 5 defense, but I reckon we'll get 3+ from them"

well lets just google the last 15 ManU results, shall we.... oh yeah, that definitely looks like a realistic expectation. they've really been banging them in, and against better competition too! :icon_lol:

to be fair though, a lot of positive/fair (to wolves) comments in that thread.

cautiously optimistic with this one. generally with the top sides I just want to see a good match. if we lose I at least want us to feel competitive. won't be particularly aggrieved if we get zero points, but will be fantastic if we do. looking forward to watching.

It takes a long time to shake that feeling. Watching the Burnley game with my dad was interesting - he was constantly complaining about the finishing, unsurprisingly, but anything that didn't go quite right - any slight misplaced pass, any hesitation on the ball, any time Burnley managed to string together more than a single pass - was immediately met with "oh here we go". It feels like there's the constant expectation that pride has always come before a fall in living memory with Wolves, and since the pride is so intense right now, the fall on its way must be immense.

I know Man City fans who still expect it to go tits up every season, which from the outside is even more unbelievable - and their pessimism may be repeatedly chipped away at each year, but it's still there a decade later.

100% this. 2nd half last week there were a couple guys behind me who were sucking their teeth almost constantly anytime we weren't attacking in the 2nd half. I mean I get not wanting to give a goal away when it's 1-0 but this was more than that.

If this were last season I don't think it would be an issue, but obviously with the step up I think a lot of people are still convincing themselves that we're legitimately competitive and comfortable at this level and it's not going to be a turgid relegation slog like it has been previous times.

If anyone is unable to get in front of a computer tomorrow, our match is the featured commentary on Radio 5 Live.

Can't wait to watch it. Highlight of my week, but I think that goes for a few of us!

Will probably be out Xmas shopping tomorrow as the girls are at my dad’s for a sleepover. Terrible planning on my part.

Hold on a second.

22nd September.

Christmas shopping.

I've got an issue here.

Yeah I'd say Christmas shopping in fucking September is astounding bad planning on your part.

Try buying the things kids want in November/December and not being able to get it anywhere. Never again. Plus it’s out the fucking way and I can forget about it.

I’ll be getting pissed later in the year while you’re shopping. Swings and roundabouts.

Amazon open. Beer in fridge. Shopping sorted. No need to move from the couch unless I need more beer.

Booz - read the post I have quoted by Paddingtonwolf. I don't say this very often, but he's speaking sense.

CHRISTMAS FUCKING CHRISTMAS
It's not even fucking Halloween get a grip!

So very very right...

I couldn't fucking agree any more sir.

Christmas prep can get to fuck until after Bonfire night at least/

Fucking hell we're popping up town for an hour to have a look round the shops, buy a couple of things then land in the pub. It's not the end of the world!

It's so wrong man, so wrong. Skip the shops and hit the fookin pub with Amazon open on your phones. You will feel a lot better.

Wouldn't fuss about the rest Boozad - do what you want

I don't need to bother, but then again we gave up on giving other adult family members christmas presents years ago when we realised that no one got what they wanted & it was a pain for everyone so we all agreed to stop doing it!

Have 'joke' presents on the tree if I have visitors, but those have to be really 'naff' to qualify for that accolade :)

Won't be around for this game as have the last bowls day before we close the green off for the season that afternoon - very little serious bowling, but the bar will be open from 1pm

How the fuck am I meant to look for stuff I don't know I want on Amazon??

Anyway, back to thoughts on the game.

Previously I have been in the build up to an Old Trafford game and thought that with a miracle, or rank United bad performance we might, just might get something. Nothing doing yet. This time I feel that if we are at our best (which I genuinely expect us to be) and they are even a jot off theirs then all three results are possible and a win isn't out of the question. Hell. Even at their best I think we can be in with a real chance.

I NEVER thought I would be saying that.
