Man Utd v Wolves 1/2/20

In the cup game Wan Bissaka was knackered after 65 minutes, having a Neto or Podence to come on will be huge for us. We only lost that cup game because if the huge drop off in quality. We've got real options to make changes and go for it now.

Wolves specifically said earlier that he can play behind the striker so looks like they disagree.
Not according to the interview they put on the official site with a Greek "expert" who's watched all of his Olympiakos' games"

"He can play on either wing, but does he have a preferred side?

Here in Olympiacos, he was used more on the right flank, because on the left-wing they have a Greek international called Giorgos Masouras, so Podence would play on the right. However, there were many games where the manager changed the sides, so we would see Podence on the left and Masouras on the right, so I believe he could easily play both sides and doesn’t have a problem doing either. I don’t believe he would be as effective as a ‘number ten’ or as a striker because his low centre of gravity doesn’t help him up against big defenders, but he can easily play on both flanks."

So he" can" but probably won't.

I'm sure Nuno will get the best out of him if he's prepared to work hard.

I like "low centre of gravity" as a euphemism for short arse...

Yep, Messi always struggles against big defenders, doesn't he?

Ah sorry, I didn't realise Podence was the new Messi.

I'm not saying he is. I'm merely suggesting the "expert" you quoted might have some flawed thinking.

I think the view of the Greek expert though is purely his opinion on whether he could play in the 10 role rather than what he's actually performed like in one. He's definitely more of a wide player that comes inside but i think he could definitely play in the 10 role or the Adama support role in the 2 once he settles in a little. He's very good technically and although he is small he's strong and that low centre of gravity gives him an advantage, if i'm a centre back i don't want Podence running at me same as they don't want Jota, Adama and Neto they hate pace or directness which all of them offer.

Have Man Utd given any indication as to whether Fernandes will start? Traditionally you wouldn’t start someone who joined on Thursday but given how vital this game is for them, their weaknesses in midfield and the fact that they’ve played 2 games in the last week, I think he might go straight in?

Apart from him, I can’t see how United win.

I will be amazed if he doesn't start.

for me.

Bench of Ruddy, Saiss, Giles, MGW, Jordao, Podence & Jota

Man Utd fans seem to think he'll go straight in. Probably out of hope more than anything though.

Solskjaer on Bruno Fernandes: "He's had, of course, a few hectic days now and even with his little daughter's three-year birthday yesterday, so I don't know how much he will be involved, but he's in the squad."

Bruno probs not starting then.

I would be worried by a pairing of Dendonker and Doherty continuing down our right hand side, esp. when we have a better option. Additionally, Jonny has been slow in getting back after he's ventured forward.
This is why we're getting stretched at the back. The quicker Boly can get up to speed the better.

"@ManUtd are encouraging Wolves fans to pay their respects and help mark the anniversary of the Munich air disaster between 3.30pm to 4pm, outside the Munich clock.

For all fans not attending, please make sure you respect the service when in the area."

Would go with that - case for Jota to start instead of Neto, though the latter has done nothing to be dropped for. We will have the opportunity to bring people on without dropping the quality off
