I expected it to be bad, it had to be to have not given that goal.Uses Onana's name and describes Kalajdzic as the Wolves player. There's your unconscious bias openly on display
The other thing it shows is the power of the senior ref over the junior one. Immediately Taylor tells him it's a collision we don't give those it's not going to be a penalty from that moment onwards. It's why VAR needs to be run independently of the PGMOLI expected it to be bad, it had to be to have not given that goal.
But I expected there to be some sort of logical reason, but there isn't at all, they just waffle along and then say no, they don't apply any logic or some law of the game none of us had considered, they look at that challenge 4 or 5 times and still come to conclusion it isn't a foul.
Corruption or cowardice I don't know which, probably both.
Exactly this.He almost instantly comes to the correct decision but then talks himself out of it.
Having finally heard the audio, I think you're reaching here. He immediately name checks Dawson straight after. Purely just a case of not knowing who the player was.Uses Onana's name and describes Kalajdzic as the Wolves player. There's your unconscious bias openly on display
I think the point Tony was making was that they should know who the player was.Having finally heard the audio, I think you're reaching here. He immediately name checks Dawson straight after. Purely just a case of not knowing who the player was.
Of course there's bias, that's not even in question. But in this case it's just unfamiliarity with a new player.
Probably yeah, but he was a late sub who only had one PL appearance to his name before that.I think the point Tony was making was that they should know who the player was.
If he'd signed for Utd, he'd have known his nameProbably yeah, but he was a late sub who only had one PL appearance to his name before that.
I can sort of forgive it. I'd rather they get the decision right than his name put it that way.
Na, football is their job, they should know everything and everyone, especially as it could effect outcomes.Probably yeah, but he was a late sub who only had one PL appearance to his name before that.

I think kind of thing is where the unconscious bias comes from. If they don't even know the name of the player they're supposed to be making judgements on, i could easily see how they might favour a player they know and have had conversations with (and probably therefore know on a personal level).Probably yeah, but he was a late sub who only had one PL appearance to his name before that.
