Man Utd 0-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

To counter that, we have very often been godawful against teams near the bottom so there is a positive way to spin even that.

Don't think that's really true (you can pick out a few games here and there but generally we've been quite efficient at putting away the crap for years now)

Bar one moment of magic it was a poor game from both sides. As a team we seem to play better without Cunha, but that's just something we have to accept, as dropping him is not the answer.

I wish our academy was half as good as uniteds. Three (i think) home grown teenagers/20 year olds in their starting eleven. Have we ever managed that?

Lee Naylor
Carl Robinson
Joleon Lescott
Keith Andrews
Adam Proudlock
2000/2001

Would have happened in Mick's early days too. Mark Little, Lewis Gobern, Dan Jones and Leon Clarke would all have played in the same team (plus Matt Murray who was older by then)

Edit: Possibly Mark Davies too

Only the second ever direct free kick scored by the visiting team at Old Trafford in the PL apparently 😳

Edit: Not correct, see posts below

Got to be more than that surely!

Danny Murphy definitely got at least one there for Liverpool.

Just out of interest as I missed the game, how many direct free kicks did Man U get around our box yesterday?

A lot.

The referee was a disgrace yesterday and a much bigger factor in the game being boring and stodgy than any of the players or coaching staff on either side. He gave a few ridiculous decisions our way as well but, predictably, most decisions went in United's favour. Multiple occasions where he's clearly guessing, bottles it and decides to go with the home team.

Stephen Gleeson?
Would be debatable how many played all in the same XI but yes another who featured that season (as did Mark Clyde, Lee Naylor and Kevin O'Connor fleetingly in the early weeks, and Carl Ikeme and Wayne Hennessey very briefly when both were still very young and Murray was injured)

Plus of course Karl Henry, not from our Academy but Ashmore Park born and bred (he might do well to remember that, the Tory prick)

The joy with this goal was that we could celebrate it from the off with no worry about fucking VAR ruling it out.

Also, with the amount of tourists with their phones out it will be captured from every angle possible.

The difference having a left and right footed option from that position to the position of the wall is huge!

That being said no wall was stopping that, but does make a difference to the keepers starting position.
