Liverpool (H) 03/03/26 Build-Up and Match Thread

We’re doing okay but you’re right there’s no outlet. So when they apply this kind of pressure it’s hard to get out.

He’ll put Hwang on at about 60/70 mins. Maybe Tolu too a bit earlier

Don’t see what Hwang offers. He doesn’t hold the ball up or give us any sort of control at all. It’s got to be Tolu, but RE is reactive not proactive, so he’ll wait for us to go behind before he changes anything.

You’re confusing me with someone who thinks Hwang has something to offer

Incredible to think VP wanted big, strong players and we’ve ended up with Armstrong, Mane and Angel as our three most advanced players.

Yep we’ve done well to stay in the game and keep it level, we have nothing going forward though not had one attempt on goal has a 0-2 written all over it.

Starting to see why Angel Gomes doesn't get many games for Marseille.

We might pinch this one. Liverpool not offering a great deal.

First 25 better team and quite a good game. Last 20 Liverpool the better side but not creating anything and very dull.

First 20-25 minutes thought we competed well, been a bit under the pump since but defending well. We'll need to change summat second half if we want to create anything.
Gravenberg should be off, two cardable offences before he got one and then another and we didnt even get the free kick.

We’re doing fine. Try and keep it the same for 20 mins and then can gamble throwing Tolu on. Won’t really change much though so it’s not some magic bullet. There’s no one else either.

We will have to hope we can get something on some transition from João or Bellegarde when he comes on. There is nothing else from an attacking sense in this squad.

We'll be fine. We always play better second half. 😉 Gomes has been our best player by a country mile.

Played quite well I thought, but we just don't have an outlet. Armstrong never stops chasing but is never going to get any joy out of VVD, that's a ludicrous mismatch but it's good to see us battling well, and I think we've done okay at the back.

Joao is having a good game.

Good job I'm not a neutral because in terms of entertainment, I've seen more after several drinks in McGhee's.

Okay, meaningless jokes aside, definitely a pleasant surprise to be tied at the half, and even more to read that we don’t look like a clusterfuck of milquetoast.

I think it’s clear Angel Gomes wouldn’t have got capped for England if he’d played all his football here. It’s also pretty clear why nobody else in the PL was interested in him. Obviously got some talent but really struggling physically.
