Liverpool (A) 6/12/20 Build-Up & Match Day Thread

We have a bit of momentum right now in terms of performances. The attacking three of Podence, Neto and Traore all played really well in the last game and Liverpool have several injury problems, especially in defence. So I think we stick with the same formation.

Silva also plays for me. This is why he's been brought in and the games young players live for. Who knows, a goal against Liverpool could properly kick start his career and let everyone know, including himself, that he belongs at this level.

And you have a pop at Jinky for posting something just to collect likes? Pot and Kettle. Well you got a few. That should keep you happy.

Still moving on, unlike some others I can reflect and have a look at myself and laugh at myself too.

. I still think we need a stronger presence up top to see out games but accept that Donk may not be any use there. I can see the argument for Joao over Rubes so really its a fag paper. Just dont start them both. Saiss for Donk is a shout but Donk does have lots of stamina and Saiss has not been well. So I would keep Donk. Same starting side as Arsenal with Silva in for Raul would be fine. Go there and give it a go.

If we go 4 at the back, wonder if Hoever is worth a shout at RB, not that Semedo's done anything wrong but would think Hoever is a better defensive option and it wouldn't hurt Semedo to have a rest. Obviously his lack of experience could be a problem.

Personally, I’d stick with the same team with Fabio playing instead of Raul. Although, I’m not overly fussed who he picks in the middle out of Moutinho, Neves or Donck.

No point worrying about whether Fabio is up to it, this is what we bought him for.

The 4 at the back certainly suits him. He’s neither a CB or a RWB at this stage. Not sure id be dropping Semedo though.

Leave Semedo where he is, he’s a quality player and given he’s still settling into the team his performances have on the whole been good. The few shaky moments he’s had have all come when he’s being overloaded and he can’t shoulder all the blame for that if nobody is helping him out.

He’ll only get better as time goes on.

Yeah wouldn't be dropping Semedo under any circumstances.

Not been overly impressed but he's been ok-decent in most games seems to be a bit of a slow burner but he's getting there.

Jurgen Klopp on the challenge of Wolves:

“When you play them, they don’t even play like the 7th of the league, they play like a top team. They had now, especially in the last year, the European league to deal with and they did it exceptionally well. That’s a really tough task after getting promoted only a year before that, so absolutely outstanding. Nuno is doing an exceptional job. Top, top recruitment.”
“Nothing bad to say about them. Now they changed systems slightly. Not sure if they will play against us like that but it makes it even more tricky that we don’t know exactly what they will do. They don’t know exactly what we will do, which is good. So, same situation. Let’s play the game.”

They're short on defenders. Rodders?

I've just had a screenshot from a Liverpool fan saying they could sign 2 more Wolves stars because Pep Lijnders and Vitor Matos have links to Porto.

The two named are Neves and Silva because they "are likely to want Champions League football as they take the next step in their career. Just like Diogo Jota has."

Both 100% gone, Jeff out.

Much as I wish we hadn't sold Jota, the narrative that he left because he was poached by a bigger club and little old Wolves were bullied into it pisses me off. He left because the club were quite happy for him to do so on footballing grounds as long as the financials stacked up

Completely forgot that Raul didn't start at Anfield last year!

Moutinho Donk
Traore Podence Neto
Silva

Was watching the Wolves training video from this week - it was noticeable how quick Silva’s first yard was - can imagine him getting a few goals from diverting crosses with the space he gets from it.

I’m looking forward to how he develops with a run of games, I really hope it’s the catalyst for him kicking on and realising his potential.
