Yeah it could have been a disaster being in Europe that season, but also maybe Jota stays and we attract some better players.

We were mostly very poor to watch but having a two week break and no pre season was always going to make things hard. Then when we finally looked like we were getting going Raul gets a life threatening injury. It wasn't just Chelsea bottling it, as I recall Arsenal had a pretty dodgy pen and there was a questionable red card. Lots of maybes about that Covid period, for us it had a huge effect and there is a clutch of other clubs (Villa, Sheffield United, Tottenham) who it impacted significantly, some to their detriment and some in their favour.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of fretting about the double drop but I cannot overstate how bad you have to be to actually go down to League One. Blues didn't even manage it under Lee Clark or Steve Cotterill.

That Iling-Junior playing for West Brom is the poster boy for bent deals to circumvent PSR. Absolutely dreadful, like National League North level.
