Live Match Discussion 2024/25

The foul for me is when their knees clatter which is without doubt on the line at the very least. Even the initial touch on the foot is maybe just above the outside of the line. Certainly can’t be overturned and I think it would be wrong too anyway

Well this is quite the turnaround.

Liverpool haven't been very good. Ages left mind.

Could easily have conceded another penalty there

Southampton getting a Wolves from VAR.
That cannot be a Penalty, it hit his side first. Ref cant see it, VAR should have intervened

It’s pretty blatant
Southampton have self destructed 3 times today
It cannot be a Penalty, rules are once it hits one part of your body then your hand its not a Pen. Dont get me wrong everything else is a blatent Penalty

That's NOT the rules as we found out to our cost when Joao Gomes got punished at Luton away after it hit his arm after coming up off his side.

The rule is if the arm is in an unnatural position then it's a penalty regardless of where the ball comes from or hits first.

Unless they've changed the rules since then.

I've not seen it, but those aren't the rules, hence the Gomes penalty last year
Unrelated to the exact rules, but he’s bang to rights on this one anyway. Awful defending and he bats the ball away with his hand. Nailed on back in the 90s down the rec let alone today.

No definitive rule, it's all down to the ref/var

If the rules were that he’d be screwed anyway as pushes the ball away with his hand the ball comes from a long way and isn’t travelling at speed.
It was a case of him misjudging the cross and trying recover badly.

But it is, and the PGMOL tied themselves in knots trying to justify it, and IRC IFAB, were not impressed

Unless your name is Joao Gomes. Seem to recall the VAR saying that was indeed the rule, “but his hands were very high”. Which isn’t anywhere in the directive. Morons

It’s about as clear as you can get, a good measure is the complete lack of outrage in the media afterwards.
Can’t wait to something similar going our way and no one on here having an issue with it.
