Live Match Discussion 2024/25

Another footballer who plays to the stereotype of footballers being inherently stupid.

This would be backed up by Paul Robinson on the BBC match feed “ called VAR fun Police” for disallowing that goal. Yep let’s just have goals given wrongly because it’s more fun.

Gordon pulling a Cunha.

No he didn't.

Gordon was a pretty unmemorable red card for one rush of blood that was hardly violent and over in seconds.

Cunha took about three swipes, a piss-weak 'kick' and 'headbutt' and then embarrassed himself by getting in the face of numerous officials, staff and players on the touchline as he was pretty much dragged off the pitch.

I've not been paying much attention but I was confused for a bit about how it was 1-1 after 95 minutes when I was sure I looked ten minutes earlier and Newcastle had scored a 97th minute winner

Newcastle fans thinking they’ve been hard done by here when in reality they were fortunate not to concede a penalty before the two red cards and disallowed goals.

They both got sent off for doing something pointless and stupid.

Neither were "violent" as your description of Cunha's actions point out.

Obviously, but Gordon's didn't have the on and off field drawn-out embarrassing theatrics, and the 'violence' from Cunha was from multiple sources rather than just one push.

So apart from being red cards that's as far as the comparison goes. Trying to make that comparison diminishes Cunha's circus act and total loss of control

They both got sent off for something stupid, they both lost control the rest of it doesn't matter one bit.

And you are contradicting yourself when you describe how pathetic the "violence" was, because it wasn't violence at all, it was pathetic.

Anyway, i'm done with this, i didn't expect such a comment to provoke an argument, have a nice afternoon.

Was it an argument? I thought it was just a disagreement.

I think it's obvious that both scenarios are very different for the reasons I've already said, as someone who bangs on about 'nuance' all the time I thought you'd see the contrast but no worries!
