Live Match Discussion 2024/25

Was quite sobering watching us field a back four of 82 year old Irwin, Pies Butler, Craddock when he was shite and Bloody Hell Naylor, and they brought on Hernan Crespo when they were already walking all over us.

That was still Ranieri as manager, Abromovich bought them during the pre season. At that point they'd not won a league in nearly 50 years
Having started watching Wolves in the ‘70s I considered Chelsea to be rivals and have always had a dislike of them even though we pipped them to the Second Division title in 1977. As such I was glad Arsenal stopped them winning the league irrespective of how long it was since they last won it.

Only one team I have real dislike for and that's Leeds, it's absolutely ridiculous, it was over 50 fucking years ago, let it go you silly old duffer.

Oh I've got plenty. I tend to do the opposite - which teams do I actually have a bit of a soft spot for? Far fewer:

Sunderland
Blackburn
Rotherham

I did all the Greater Manchester grounds when I lived up there and I broadly speaking wish Stockport, Oldham, Macclesfield, Bury and Rochdale well.

Bolton and Wigan can fuck off.

Salford weren't around then to any meaningful extent so they don't count.

Yeah I don't mind Stockport, Bury, Rochdale (met Chris Kamara doing commentary at Spotland - what an absolute legend. Spent half time chatting and laughing with us)

Macclesfield was full of scallies when I went there and Oldham was colder than the summit of K2 so not good memories there either!

We shall not speak of Bolton and Wigan.

The only club I don't particularly like historically is Birmingham. I think I've met one fan of theirs in my life that isn't a mardy bellend with a chip on their shoulder.

Of the “big boys” Arsenal were always my favorites, but that could have largely been because of how futile they were (y’all know I love a relative underdog).

Beyond that, I guess owing to how distant I am from supporters of non-“big boys”, I don’t have much hate in me. I even like West Brom because of the little birdie on the badge, and even Brum have a place for me off of that FA Cup (Leagues Cup?) win over Arsenal the first year I was paying attention.

I tend to dislike clubs when they have dislikable players, and once those have moved on it settles down. Shit, Nuno being at Forest has totally overridden the hate I had for them from Morgan’s antics.

I've always found Spurs a great watch. No fondness for them as such, but throughout my life their games have been consistently full of drama, hilarity and goals.

There was something truly captivating about the seeing Defoe and Crouch on the pitch together.

I loved watching Jermain play tbh. Such a naturally gifted finisher.

As a kid I saw very little success from Wolves until that play off final, so Arsenal knocking us out the FA Cup in 1998 means I hate them - that's the only reason. I don't even remember the game but still :ROFLMAO:
