Live Match Discussion 2017/18

Derby and Villa both scored first half goals and both just sat in for the second half with neither Fulham or Boro having the craft or guile to even look like breaking them down.
 
Absolutely dreadful stuff. Boro offered nothing going forward and Villa couldn't even be arsed to break. I feel offended having watched it.
 
Villa deserved winners, Boro no real idea how to break them down.

Awful game though, similarly poor quality to the league 2 game before it.
 
No quality at all bar a couple of individual moments from Grealish. Those tactics from both managers were abhorrent.
 
Hoping the Coventry game offers more entertainment. I need cleansing.
 
Thought Gibson looked good for Boro, not really tested defensively but looked very assured on the ball, strode forwards with it confidently and used the ball well for the most part. Not seen a lot of him but on that showing he looks far more rounded than say Michael Keane and you'd think he would've been easier to steal aware considering the fates of their respective clubs last summer.
 
If either goes up they’ll need major improvement in the summer, no coincidence Villa look lost without Grealish.
Boro are proper flat track bullies they were almost as bad tonight as they were against us, Traore is just a runner no football intelligence whatsoever.
Expect 0-0 or 1-0 Villa in the 2nd leg.

I'm surprised Gibson stayed, he was rated when they played in the prem. I would have thought a Burnley / Everton / wba would have been in for him.

I guess he might move this summer

I think they need to start with bamford, at least he offers something a bit different.

A 3 of downing, bamford & troare behind assombalonga should be able to do something
 
Fat Britt isn't very good at all, I'd bin him off and just play Bamford.

With a Pulis team you're never going to switch seamlessly from ultra-cautious dirge to attacking in the blink of an eye. If they go behind then they will always struggle. Doesn't help when they spend an hour or more with Shotton at RB, graveyard of possession that he is.

The clue as to why he didn't leave last Summer is in his surname. I'd have had in the England team as left centre half last season. I'd happily sign him and move Boly to the right.
 
I should add that the Villa game isn't the worst one I've seen today. That honour goes to Lincoln vs Exeter. Lincoln genuinely play like a pub team. Constant 100% hoofball to Matt Rhead who genuinely looks like a pub player, in terms of appearance and ability. Lamp the ball into the box off set pieces. That's it.
