LIVE! Match discussion 2014/15

Argentina 2 up, two great assists from Di Maria and finishes from Aguero and Lamela.

Who is the former Wolves player "Horvord" Flo?
ITV commentators ha ha ha

Fucking ell, I'm tempted to back in the other room and watch the bake off with the Missus!

Seen them given....

Its on, but not really watching.

Incredibly slow & laboured - almost as if its an OAP walking football match

Tedious late 90's Sven-esque rubbish. Straight 4-4-2, get it wide and then...... I don't think they know. Hasn't worked for McCarthy at the top level so fuck knows why managers think it'll work at National level.

Woy's a nice bloke but him, the coaching staff and whole philosophy need changing.

4-0 Argentina. Di Maria has set up 3 of them and just scored the fourth with a little dink over the keeper.

4-1 now, Schurrle scores. Much better watch than England.

England will win by at least two goals. Norway defending far too deep and will eventually get caught out.

I agree but sadly cannot think of a single realistic candidate to replace him. The lack of English managers that are given a chance at a higher level is damaging and the players are such egotistical arseholes that they would only respect someone who was a 'big' name. I would guess an ex England player with little or no managerial experience is possible but would have to be one who understands the modern game.

I think this is true but it won't happen. I think I've posted this before but this is the FA's playing philosophy which is made clear to grassroot coaches at every course I've been too.

In possession:

A possession-based approach played through the three-thirds of the pitch
Quality passing and intelligent movement and support off the ball
Penetrative, incisive and varied attacking play, allied to good finishing
Counter-attacking whenever opportunities arise

Out of possession:

A tactical approach to defending, in which all players contribute
A controlled, calculated and assertive approach when and where necessary

Does this filter through to the top? And if it does - why are they incapable of making it happen where it matters?

Getting prepared for a modern day 'Maggie Thatcher' type rant.

Im only watching because there is cock all else on TV tonight.
