The key is "the point they needed". Jose has pragmatism down to a tee.

As a consumer of the product I don't like it, but you can't blame him for winning the title.

Yeah i agree he has but i don't think it's needed. Surely that side is more than good enough to go to Arsenal and play like a top side rather than one looking for a point. I don't agree with that mindset and that's part of the reason imo why they were knocked out of the Champions League.

But if they are better off setting up as they did today (plus without one of the top scorers in the division) and denying Arsenal the opportunity to make up ground on them, why wouldn't they?

People say it's easy to set up and defend like that, utter nonsense. The amount of concentration required is ridiculous and I can only think of one chance Arsenal had and that was when Ozil didn't connect when Monreal pulled it back.

The thing is though i don't think they are, i think if they had set up to attack Arsenal and go and win the game they would have. Yes i understand sitting back and denying Arsenal space but Chelsea overkill it.

It's not easy and it takes immense concentration and Chelsea are good at it but i just don't agree with the lengths they go to with it. I think it cost them against PSG in the Champions League.

I think if you go and attack Arsenal, as well as it being at the Emirates, and them coming off the back of nine wins on the trot (I think?) you are asking for trouble. They are arguably at their most dangerous on the counter attack. Wenger himself has made the mistake of being too open in games where they could have been more pragmatic, which they have showed they can do themselves against City this season.

I don't think sitting deep cost them in the Champions League personally. I think it was the alarming amount of complacency they so bizarrely displayed.

Longer term you can argue that yes, with all the money they have they should have more than one top class striker to rely on, and be able to have stronger players and allow them to take more risks, but if you look at an isolated game Jose played it very well.

It's not just 1 isolated game though is it?

They've played like against pretty much everyone they've faced since Christmas.

No and that's why I'm saying that a club with their money should have a stronger squad depth-wise. Key attacking players have lost form, Hazard keeping things alive in that sense. As well as Mourinho bought in the summer they still need more.

What it comes down to I guess overall is whether Mourinho cares about aesthetics, which I would suggest he clearly does not. It's not the way I prefer football to be played at all, or as a viewer but nobody gets to decide what football should look like I suppose

I watched the game and i'm no football purist by any stretch of the imagination but for those who are and in particular young football coaches like YoungWolf it was a tactical masterclass.

The FA Youth Cup final is currently on ITV for anyone interested. Currently 15 mins in.

Chelsea v Man City. Second leg, Chelsea 3-1 up after the first leg. City have a goal back though.

The Chelsea youth team coach is only 28! Used to play for them.

Ah, I was wondering why they didn't put Solanke on the bench yesterday despite having no forwards. Hadn't realised the second leg was tonight.

Superb keeping from Bogdan to keep Bournemouth out twice.

Come on Notlob. I want a miracle that means we play these south coast nouveau arrivistes in the playoffs.

1-0 to little tiny small Bournemouth....
