LIVE! Match discussion 2014/15

For 98,000 the atmosphere seems very flat at times

Better flat than doing a River Plate/Boca imitation.

Great play from Alba

What has happened to Bale? A shadow of the player from last season. Looks utterly lost at times

Suarez with two abysmal passes when they could settle this game

I remember why I stopped watching la Liga regularly now, all the playacting just ruins the game for me. Obviously the ones the Forestieri against us should get retrospective bans but not sure what you can do about everyday exaggerations and fake injuries during games. It really shouldn't be an issue, I cant believe grown men are so pathetic.

Well, we will be seeing plenty more of it, with 3 la liga teams in the last 8 of the champions league.

It isn't seen as such a big issue in Spain. They think you are stupid, if you don't do it. A bit like corruption, if it's there take it, you are an idiot if you don't. A different culture. Hard for us to understand, I know.

Just watching the QPR v Everton match and seeing a few away fans celebrating Everton's second goal whilst sat in the home end. Could you imagine if someone did that in the South Bank?

Shearer seems to think van Gaal got it right for the second game in a row. I didn't see the game but is this just coincidence or has van Gall finally stumbled onto a tactic that works for his United team?

I thought it was mentality rather than tactics why United had control of the game, from the first minute they played front foot football. Liverpool stood off United, gave them far to much space and time to look up and pick a pass.
Higher in your face work ethics won the day, it wasn't rocket science.

Bollocks to both of that, IMHO. Poor defensive play from Moreno is what handed United the match. United were even lucky in the end, up a man for the entire second half and they were decidedly poorer than Liverpool the whole time.

US about to play Denmark. Anyone interested in updates?

Not sure. Dempsey is the normal captain but he's hurt. Hadn't paid attention to it otherwise.

We don't put nearly as much emphasis on captaincy as you lot.

Altidore has just scored a worldy.

Maybe not a worldy but a brilliant goal nonetheless. Made Wass and Kjær look silly and then a first time volley that the Danish keeper could barely react to from a tight angle.
