Costa is never going to play well with Doherty in the team, he has no chance. Teams know that they can just double up on him down their left as Doherty offers zero attacking threat. When he overlaps he either turns back and passes it to Bennett, has a terrible first touch that kills any rapid counter stone dead, or ruins the chance with a terrible cross.
