I get why we need taxes (but not for the reasons I thought) but making the poorest in society pay is just cruel.

I'm going do some more reading

Edit. Fucking hell, we chose austerity not because we had to but because we wanted to. This is insane, we've made the worse decisions over the last couple of decades because we wanted to, not because we had to.

I had no idea this is how things worked, it's really changed my perspective on well.... everything.

Edit 2. We chose to borrow money and then claim we have to pay interest to service the debt. No we fucking didn't, it's an excuse to reduce state spending.

Austerity was a political project, not an economic one. And pretty much the entire shitshow since then was down to Cameron and Osborn.

In the pantheon of awful Tory politicians they get off far too easily.

Is it just me but does the EV vehicle tax seem quite disproportionate? Why tax per mile rather than just lump a category into the current system like other cars?
