Just how good were/was/is/are (Wolves Edition)

Didn't realise he was a bit of a nob, only thing I know about him personally was he opened a shop in Newport (local celeb) and my missus took our boys along, he wad good with them, signing stuff etc

Adam Proudlock cruising the high street in his flash car, Steve Froggatt opening a shop. I need to get to Newport more often :D

You'd be welcome, don't think Adam does that anymore, he's much more mature these days.....pity he didn't get it during his Wolves career

Ah, we'll have him in this series at some point.

Maybe my favourite Froggy moment in this game. Absolutely burns down the left and a great ball in.

I liked Froggy, was young when he was here so it was mostly a case of he was quite exciting and i enjoyed watching him play. I do remember him been a bit of a knob about us when he moved to Cov and when he was on WM so opinion soured somewhat

Nowt you can do about his first injury. Shocker of a tackle (by a player I went on to like for Wolves, the world is strange sometimes).

I loved Froggy. More of a Jarvis style winger than a Kennedy/Dennison but there's a place for that. If you had him at his best then feasibly he's one who might get in our current squad as a LWB. Not many of the 90s crew you'd say that about.

Fair play on the contract stuff, I'll always respect him for that.

McGhee playing him as a LB in a back four was not the greatest move but y'know, McGhee.

Who did him?

Yep. Live on ITV just before Christmas. John de Wolf got burned by Uwe Hartenberger of all people.

Gilkes scored for them.

Emblen, Kelly and Frogatt, some Paul porn there ;)

ps. blast from the past Ricky Otto !!

He did play LWB for us in 96/97, was good at it too. Not the way we play wingbacks now though.

There’s a question - does anyone now, or in recent past, play WBs in a similar way to we do?

Not really. Doc has probably the most unique role in world football :icon_lol:

Which is why he'd be shit for anyone else.

Not even Conte at Chelsea?

Nah, no way Victor Moses played like Doc plays for us.

Pretty sure (I’m not arsed to check) Moses goals and assists record was woeful from that season. Was just a willing runner who wasn’t awful and could perform his role to some degree. Was never good enough go score bangers like Alonso and didn’t have the aerial threat, set piece delivery or open play delivery like he did. Basically filled a spot to allow Alonso to play as a striker.

Moses in 2016/17 - 34 appearances (29 starts), 3 goals, 2 assists.

Doc last season - 35 appearances (35 starts), 4 goals, 5 assists.

This is league only though, Doc got four cup goals for us too.

It's defo a different role though. I think Punts is right, Moses was just a workhorse down there. We want Doc to create and score, we know he can't defend so we don't ask him to.
