January Transfer Window, 25/26 Season

This might be a naïve question, but can someone help me, a non-ticket-buying fan, why attendance gets so much lower in the Championship? Excepting midweek games.
It may also cost more! There’s a £30 cap on away tickets in the Premier League. No such thing in the Championship with clubs usually charging more when “the big boys” come to town.

2008 when the clayheads were gunning for promotion and we were pushing for the playoffs - 25k
2007 (Sat 3pm) 19k
2006 22k

It isn't the sell-out a BCD would be.

As a wider fanbase it definitely means more to them than us, but it's not totally 1 sided like Coventry or Walsall. That said this year's pre season game was pretty much empty on their side

Interesting and surprising that we kept J Gomes and Andre too
... and Mosquera who is clearly busting a gut to prove himself for selection for the World Cup. There's a lot of competition for what is a very good Colombian team. Arias will be OK but if he's going to be an automatic choice for the team and not just the squad he's going to have to up his performances in the coming months. It appears that Santiago Bueno is pretty rock solid for the World Cup with the Guayos.
As for Hwang... if he goes to the World Cup then there's something weird going on in Korea as well as here. What was the old song? If such and such can play for England then so can I.

I don’t really know why it does because it’s not something I’ve ever done. I’ll probably rebuy a ST next year (unless they continue to take the piss) even though were at the lower level. Just historically people jump on the band wagon when we get promoted and then jump off it when we get relegated.

If you've ever ever sat in the golf stand against a Sky 6 side, then you'll find at best you are in the majority

It's probably too much to ask for but I'm really hoping for a decent reduction in matchday ticket prices next season. I was tempted to go to the Chelsea game on Saturday as I've got a rare free Saturday afternoon but £56 a ticket? Fuck that.

Obvs I understand why games are different categories but it still annoys me because I don't give a fuck who we're playing - I want to go and watch Wolves, be it against Man City or Shrewsbury.
Probably loads on Facebook for a fraction as no one can resell through club.

Shame we couldn't offload one of them. Or just stop playing them both together.
Exactly. Playing them together puts a lot of creative pressure on our simply not good enough wing backs and non-existent for years attacking midfielders, especially when we don't play with wingers.
I am sure that the creative players of yesteryear (not just Waggy, Knowles, Hibbitt and Daley) were/are bored by modern football despite admiring the fitness, the technical skills and, of course, the salaries.
What a boring mess we have become.

I think if we're 'Nuno-ing' it and look great there won't be much of a drop off tbh. But we won't be, so there will be.

On the window, suprisingly good fee for JSL, Hobbs is a fucking nutjob. I'm staggered at the Gomes deal tbh. I wonder if there's a world where he goes on loan to the PL while we're in the Championship and then is sold only if we fail to get promoted at the first attempt? You can't see him in the Championship. Armstrong is a sensible signing, fair play. I'd have liked to have seen Andre and Agba fucked off too, but can't have everything.
Hobbs is/was not just totally unqualified for his lofty position at Palace and Wolves. Look at his demeanour and his empty career track record before he became an over promoted scout etc at Wolves. Living off Kilman who was spotted by another Wolves scout and the South Americans who were pushed at all the Premier League clubs and more by the very knowledgeable and experienced development people in those countries. Mendes and his team obviously led those negotiations.
No wonder the aspiration of Jonathan Hunter Barrett is to be a sporting director......

Us old gits did care for a while due to the institutionalised North Staffs (Stoke) vs South Staffs (Wolves and WBA) rivalry in more fields than just footie. Two different worlds the other ends of a county colliding at the time.

Fwiw I've been following us seriously for 15 years now; I've never once heard of us particularly caring about Stoke, nor the other way around. But then, I don't think I've ever met a Stoke supporter.

We don't particularly care about Stoke.

But in those 15 years I don't think we've played them in the league?

I went to Stoke away in the 90s and it was vile, similar to Leeds.

Then once in the 00s and it was similarly hairy.

Anyway that wasn't my point, I just think the games I mentioned will get in crowds of over 25k, assuming we are at least in the top 6.

Oh stop being so nit picky. I have no sleep, am grieving and have a grave to dig so i might not be the best person to score points off today

Fair enough. Sorry you’re dealing with that, genuinely.

Not trying to score points, just clarifying what was being discussed. We can leave it there.
