January Transfer Window, 25/26 Season

I was going to say yesterday actually, the type of players we should be targeting are young players in the championship (or equivalent abroad) who aren’t going to get promoted. play in the premier league for a few months, get a big wage increase and worst case you should be playing for a better championship team.

Mehmeti is 25 but is improving each year, would make sense to me. Bristol city are only 3 points off the top six though

Yeah, I think I said a few days ago, there are always opportunities in football. We should be looking to make the kind of signing that a currently upper mid table Championship club aiming to break into the promotion race would make. We should be able to blow any of those clubs out of the water on wages & transfer fees, we're back to being one of the biggest, best supported clubs at that stage and have the added benefit of being able to offer those players 6 months of PL football that they wouldn't get otherwise.

Then in the Summer we position ourselves as a club who are aiming to get promoted straight away (The 'We expect to be a PL team in Aug27' line they released recently is fighting talk, for a start) and make signings along those lines.

I don't buy that there's nothing we can do at all in this window.

Yup. It's a 4 month pre-season and a good learning experience for some new signings. The return of young and hungry

On Mehmeti, he looks like he's got good experience for a 25 y/o, over 200 games for Brizzle and Wycombe, spent time at some really good academies as a youngster (Fulham, Spurs, Norwich) and has recently been capped at international level as well.

Have we ever had an Albanian player before?

Zele Ismail was Albanian born but played for England schoolboys

Thing is, you have to go down to Charlton in 18th to find a club with as much chance as us being in the PL next season. He'd be silly to leave Bristol City now, for a few months PL money. It makes much more sense to target that type of player in the Summer when they haven't gone up when we will be much more attractive.

There's fuck all chance Bristol being in the PL though, mathematically perhaps but practically they are shit and perennial bottlers.

Even if Bristol City don’t go up there’s the possibility that a PL might want him, especially a newly promoted team from the Championship. I can’t see why he’d want to move now and guarantee Championship football next year when better options might be available in the summer. Worst case for him is we’ll probably be interested in the summer.

Feel like there’s a player somewhere in Lopez, all be it he’s as weak as piss currently.

Reminds me a bit of Sarabia in that he looks to have some technical ability without any physical presence.

Hopefully not another Vitinha.

Seems this one is just a loan. No option or obligation, so if everything works out ok.........we will get to loan him out again in August.
