I think traditionally that the Wolves crowd has always been 'fair' in general and effort alone has often been the most appreciated attribute. As the underdog and very often a second tier team, fans seemed to know our place, accept that we weren't dining at the top table and so recognise the limitations of the players we had.
Money, media, social media and new fans that perhaps are not generational will have lead to different tolerances and the money that is paid for players, the salaries they receive and the cost of attending or even subscribing has meant expectations are significantly increased and there is a demand that players no longer show effort alone but also the requisite skill sets.
Unfortunately [and I don't blame players for signing contracts to play at leagues above their ability or accept salaries way beyond their worth - we would all do the same] our recruitment doesn't match these expectations. I agree with Alan in some respect that personal attacks on players character are unnecessary and don't sit well, but the exposure and rewards of PL football means assassinations of ability will always take place, rightly or wrongly.
Personally I still get more annoyed with the likes of Hwang [probably unfairly as it's not all his fault] because I see him having a shirt when so many contributary factors suggest he shouldn't, than Munetsi as with him I think he's doing his best and that his best clearly is nowhere near good enough. My ire here (and contradictorily with Hwang) is with the people who scouted, signed* and picked him and not the player himself. Frustrations boil over and people write things that they don't probably mean, especially when there is a keyboard in front of you as you watch the action on TV. Perhaps that's why those of us at the games are slightly more reserved in the comments we make as there isn't that instant ability to write on here how X player or Y player made us feel.
*I'd add not selling Hwang is another frustration especially when we have allegedly received offers way above what his return on the pitch represents.
