January Transfer Window, 25/26 Season

Not happening. We'd never go into half or more of a season with only one LB/LWB and Doherty as cover...

We’re halfway through a season with two central midfielders, we’ve done seasons with only one striker, if the money offered is right, he’ll go

I do feel like the views on Wolfe would be different if at least two of these happened.

A) We got a new keeper who was competent
B) We had kept Semedo so it wasn't such a full scale change
C) One of the attacking signings had been vaguely competent out the gate, or we signed a better/less prospective style attacker

We didnt replicate either the defensive or attacking roles that Ait Nouri offered. And so its magnifying him not being Ait Nouri. Unlike Jackson I dont totally panic when I see Wolfe starting.

Im not as anti him as many. He's been ok in the games I've watched. Not exceptional but competent for the most part. He's better than Hugo (and Rodrigo) defensively and not significantly worse going forward than Bueno. Thats not to say I think he's great, just not as bad as most of our other Summer signings.

Someone said at Arsenal last week that if Wolfe was an NFL player he'd be on Special Teams 😂

It's obviously been a disaster but moving away from Hobbs in the summer was the right decision. Appointing his assistant 4 months later doesn't fill me with much hope for the future. Hopefully Jackson is at least less of an embarrassment than 'Hobbsy'.
Matt Jackson was 'self-employed' after five years in the 'staff office' at Wigan who during that time alternated between League 1 and the Championship. Another no mark wonder boy we have to respect as the Shiite has promoted this ex-Wigan office boy twice already including a spell of less than a year as President of Grasshoppers.
WOW!

Personally, I can't see Shi being prepared to spend enough during the window to attract the experience and quality needed to strengthen the squad. (I think there's no way that we'll avoid relegation).

We'll be looking at free agents like Jesse Lingard and Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain who have both said they want to return to the Premier League. I can't see many teams being interested in them. I doubt Wolves will be prepared to page the wages for them so I'm not worried that we'll sign them.

One position we may have a chance to improve is goal keeper. Playing behind an open defence could be attractive to a goalie who wants to demonstrate his shot stopping and command of the 6-yard box to boost his chances of going to the World Cup. Probably wishful thinking on my part.
On the goalkeeping side of things who the **** was responsible for bringing in Johnstone, King and Bentley when at an earlier stage that oaf Roberts was supposed to be god almighty for bringing on busloads of youngsters with potential?
Meanwhile Sa is sat on his butt with vanishing prospects of making the World Cup Squad for Portugal.
If any position sums up our decline from the days of Nuno and Co it is goalkeeper.

Its back in the 2023 thread as just found it, but in it when Johnstone was first mentioned by Gold Flag and that they are hopeful of selling Sa to Forest, someone asks why we don't just go for Henderson and Flag replies "We aren't spending 20m on a keeper."

And then there is some talk about how SJ is much better distribution wise and won't just chuck one in his own net like Sa will do...

Instead we paid 10m on Johnstone and Palace got Henderson for 15m plus ad ons. Which have presumably been paid due to winning the cup and getting in Europe, which is amusing to consider given Shi's comment about Wolves fans expectations.

So it seems keeper evaluation and recognition of importance of keeper, is something we lost with Nuno.

Looks like Ruben is angling for a PL return, and Al-Hilal don't want him to go for free at the end of the season, so he's available for <£20m in January.

If we hadn't made such a monumental mess of things we could have had him back. Of course there's no chance now.

As recently as when he came back for Diogo's tribute I thought a return may be possible but since then with how we have meekly surrendered our PL status there is no chance he comes back to this clown show.

Seen him linked to United and Newcastle recently

Unless he wants to be player/manager. And I genuinely would take that.

Plus he could recreate the Bryan Robson photo.

Well, merry fucking Christmas to you to 😒

If Man United want a midfielder who sits deep then Neves at £20m would be an absolute bargain. Far better option for them than Gomes who was linked for a lot more money.

It would be the final humiliation of this Premier League nightmare to see Rúben Neves playing at Molineux one last time wearing another team's colours. I'm not sure that I could bare it.
It would be rubbing salt into the wound. He embodied everything that was fantastic about the Nuno era.
