Replacing players that don't want to be here with ones that do, will have more of an effect than their ability or lack of. Hopefully JSL and Agbadou's deals go through and there is an improvement as a result in squad attitude. It can't all be done in one window, but I think we've at least made 'a start'. Gomes is a left field and potentially exciting addition and while Armstrong in no way excites me, he is a sensible acquisition - whilst he's clearly with next season in mind, he can't be worse than what we've had in the first half of this season for the remaining PL games.
While I'd like to have included at least Hwang and Jackson*, along with Lopez, Hoever and Munetsi in the departures column, that wasn't going to be realistic. What we must try to do is turn loans into permanent moves and not just kick the can down the road.
*I expect Wolfe, probably Arias, Krejci and at least one of the senior keepers to go next time although I certainly wouldn't have stood in their way this window (Krejci excepted who will go because we can't keep him).
