January 2022 Transfer Thread

Sky Spanish football correspondent immediately pointed out that we have Trincao on loan and suggested this may turn into an effective swap deal in the summer.

I'd swap Traore for Trincao without the extra cash tbf.

Trincao has potential to kick on. He was very influential to our win against Saints.

Traore, meanwhile, is what he is and he always will be. There's no more adventure to be had with him. It's just time to be done.

So much for getting to spend the money to re-invest in the squad. That transfer fee for Trincao always looked on the high side to me, so at least this evens it out.

I can’t shake the fact that we might end up regretting letting Trincao go in a year or two, so I’m not totally against us pinning him down on a long term contract. He just needs some time to grow and learn his trade (especially in the PL). There’s obvious talent there.

Isn’t it mad that we now appear to have a great working relationship with bloody Barcelona?! I know they’ve got shit going on, but there’s worse clubs to be mates with.

Say what we will about Jorge, but he knows how to manipulate a stooge.

Very interesting, I have a hard time envisioning that he’ll suddenly start picking up goals and assists left and right in Spain.

But Barcelona are stupid, so maybe they buy him regardless.
I give you Willian Jose who has 7 goals in 20 in spain this season and several of those are sub appearances.(13 starts)

There a three main reasons I don't think it holds up:

1) Jose's record in Spain prior to joining Wolves was already respectable (he had previously shown he works in Spanish football effectively)
2) Adama is a winger, Jose is a target forward
3) Adama has no history of success which suggests his performances would improve in Spain

I think the pace of Spanish football will play to Traore's strengths. His dynamism could give him more time on the ball to consider his end product than he has in the faster and more intense English game.

Barcelona need cover for Fatti and Dembele and have got fuck all to spend. I genuinely don't think there are any other proven alternatives to the Traore option.

I think he'll do reasonably well domestically for Barca, hopefully well enough that they will buy him. That doesn't that he will ever be succesfull here.

Tbf the last thing you'll catch me doing about Barca is accusing them of spending wisely.

I'm not sure it's a case of them spending wisely, but they really don't have any other alternatives bar their youth system.
