It's Official!!: Europa League Thread

Bored so I've just totted up the prize money so far from EL.

7,170,000 - that includes the bonus for reaching the last 16.

Wow you must have been bored!

It really is a pittance compared to the Champions League.

Arsenal & Chelsea each earned in total something like £40m for getting to the final. That includes prize money, ticket sales etc etc. Hefty whack but get to the final of the Champs league and you are close to trebling that amount.

One of the issues the EL used to have is teams lost money from being in it, due to a combination of poor attendances and poor prize money. UEFA fixed the latter part about a decade ago.

Coronavirus: Inter Milan v Ludogrets in Europa League to be played behind closed doors
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51611932

More than 600 Ludogorets fans were due to travel from Bulgaria for Thursday's Europa League last-32 first-leg match at the San Siro

One to be mindful of before booking flights/hotels for the next round dependent on the draw.

That works. Phew we have a chant for it. Now what to do with the 14 days self isolation...

All the lads play FIFA don't they? Just play the games in isolation on FIFA, with each player controlling themselves..?

Nuno on Jonny

"Jonny is at Compton .He had a strong kick, very strong impact. He's in pain. Hopefully he's not out for very long."

So, I guess out until after the International break

Was that from the Godfrey booking do we reckon?

And down go Braga (!)

Didn't see that one coming admittedly but at least we can't run into them again...

Was that from the Godfrey booking do we reckon?

Yep. Although I don't think it was a foul. Jonny just blocked a cross and his ankle went. Lino reacted to his agony rather than what had happened.

Jota joint top of the charts after his back to back hat-tricks.

Salzburg vs Frankfurt postponed due to weather, to be played tomorrow at 5pm UK time.

Shouldn't matter too much as Frankfurt are 4-1 up.

Istanbul Basaksehir are currently putting Sporting out. Leverkusen are definitely disposing of Porto unless the scoreline changes PDQ.

Not a great week for Portuguese football in Europe.
