Since then it feels like we've lost the togetherness, belief and identity we had*. And just some of the general positive feeling and loving Wolves. Not sure how much of it was down to Nuno but it felt like a lot. I think he held everything together

*O'Neil seems to have brought this back by what the players say but for fans I don't think it's anywhere near. Also Shi fucking things up so who knows what would happen. Again, don't think we'd be any worse off

I think Nuno's best may have been and gone by 2020. He has mitigation for everything post-Raul but we really were very poor from that point on and while he's done OK at Forest (via Saudi, which is very much a career move that says you've checked out for a while) I'm not sure the old magic is there or ever coming back. You can't just hope it turns into 2019 again, the classic Nuno team needed refreshing regardless and very few managers go longer than 4 years at a club these days.

Replacing him with Lage was of course a complete nonsense, as I wouldn't have Lage in charge of a League Two team.

1988 was my start. No MOTD, fewer than 20 live games on ITV per season, loads of grounds looked like shit when they were on TV so I never knew any better. Went to old Wembley in 1989 and that was also horrible, just big.

But realistically we had one crumbling massive terrace and one big but basic stand miles from the pitch. Awful!

Went to some awful grounds as I got older, a long list of shockers but the Manor Ground always wins that contest, the deathtrap shithole.

When you get the yoot talking about how great it must have been compared to modern grounds, er no lads, it wasn't, it was rubbish.

I hate identikit crap like Reading which has the bonus of being in the middle of nowhere but at least you know you won't die.

On the Hillsborough anniversary Liverpool make LFC TV free to air (fair play) and last month they showed the 1989 FA Cup final in full on that day. Late at night, Mrs DW gone to bed so I thought I'd watch it before turning in myself for a bit of nostalgia.

It is an absolutely appalling game of football. Incredibly poor.

Going as kid it wasn’t very user friendly only enjoyable factor was the football and maybe a pre match bovril. Standing the pub drinking a coke and bag of smiths wasn’t much fun either. My experience in the late 90’s as teenager was far more enjoyable still affordable, better facilities etc

Agree he would never have relegated us. I also don't think he'd have got us winning a trophy or making Europe again.

Dias interest was very real, we couldn't pay all the money up front as Benfica wanted/needed (he might have told us to do one regardless)

Walters is quality. But Daley is allegedly back now, we paid £1m for him, Liverpool want £1m for Walters who plays the same position and is older. All a lot of money for a second tier club 30 years ago. Say no thanks, we'll stick with what we have.
