Get well soon, Raul

You can't limit it but what Luiz did is dangerous. Take rugby as an example, occasionally a player takes another out in mid-air, they don't mean it and it is an accident, something completely unavoidable but it is dangerous, so the player gets a yellow card an 10 minutes in the bin.

Even if Luiz was booked for a dangerous tackle (as you would a high boot) then players may modify their behaviour and not go charging in at the near post and attacking the man.

The bit that is the most dangerous here is that Luiz has attacked Raul's space, Raul jumps from his spot and is focused completely on the ball, for Luiz to win the ball he has to be in front of Raul and he isn't, it isn't as if Raul has appeared from nowhere he is set in that position.

If there was intent for Luiz to take Raul out then he would be rightly sent off but there clearly wasn't any but it is dangerous play and should be treated as such.
Explained it way better than me!

It does doesn't it? I'm finding it difficult not to read too much into that, but him talking about being on the pitch "soon" is fantastic!

It may mean he hasn't sat down with the professionals yet to discuss whether a return to football is possible, but it could also mean there is no sign of brain damage and the operation went well therefore a return is inevitable.

Luiz having his hand in Raul's mouth is, as I've said, completely bizarre.

Otherwise I think it's just one of those things. If it were Gabriel that had done it rather than Luiz who we've known for a decade is a raging oaf who clatters around everywhere, I don't think there'd be the same level of questioning.
I'm not convinced Luiz's hand is in Raul's mouth tbh.

I know from having a DiL who had a brain aneurysm that this early there is no way of telling how things will pan out. They can be looking positive then you get 3 or 4 backward steps - it's not always a linear improvement.

Hopefully he can & does, but his health is more important than anything else

Sorry, I'm not following the logic of that; just sounds like preaching to the choir to me. Wouldn't £7500 be better spent feeding some poor kids in Mexico City in Raul's name?

Maybe just a fan trying to show appreciation during a period where we can't do it during a game as we are locked out.

No different really to any team where fans fund raise for flags/banners/Wenger out Airplanes, of course the money could be better spent elsewhere but as fans we do a lot for other matters to raise money for Charities and good causes.

I'd rather give my money to Mind or Headway

For those that don't know, Mind is the mental health charity and Headway the brain injury charity.

Not being a killjoy here but is that how much banners are ??

I know the lad who has set this up and he will have priced this correctly. No clue how big the thing will be.
As he mentions where it will be, he will have already spoken to the club to get the thumbs up for it.

Any excess will go to charity.

Just seen the club had tweeted about this, so they are happy with the amount put on the fundraising page.

Please don't think I was questioning the legitimacy of it, I just have no idea what these things cost

By the way he's raised 105% of it already !

I'd be surprised if the club doesn't pay for the banner and let all the money go to charity. Needs a shake up in PR if they don't
Probably broke now after sending the kids footballs and other goodies...

On a related note, my lad got some wireless earphones yesterday and one of those watchyoumacallits that people put on the back of their phone to hold it which was an unexpected nice touch

According to one of my customers, the general consensus in Mexico is that David Luiz is a dirty so and so who gets away with stuff like that all the time. They definitely do not think it was accidental.

Also, the stream I was watching never showed a replay of the incident (a sure sign it was serious) and I'm not sure I could watch it anyway.

Get well soon Raul, great player and great person too!
