General Wolves News

Anyone with eyes can see that we've been playing vastly better with Tolu than without.

With the proviso that I'm already resigned to Mane leaving in the summer, Tolu's the one player that I'm desperate for us to keep in the summer. I really like what I've seen, even given the state of the rest of the team.

I quite like him. He's not amazing but he's definitely a useful player to have. Ideally we'd be in a position where he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter and we'd be able to use him more in situations where we can get the most out of his attributes. Unfortunately, given the state of our attack this season he's got to play every minute that he's fit.

The fitness issue at the start of the season was ridiculous though. Glad he's worked through that as it was an appalling way to start his career here.

Having someone trying is vastly better than having someone who isn't. Beyond that I don't think he's up to much and certainly not worth what we paid for him. He has to take chances like the one he had on Saturday.
Yeah he benefits from not being Larsen.
On Saturday I was quite surprised how slow and cumbersome he was running onto balls into the channels, ended up having shots from further out which were very poor.
He has his strengths, okish at holding the ball up but we need to get players closer to him which I guess is where Armstrong will come in. As a pair they hopefully will be effective next season. Lets face it we're unlikely to get anywhere near our money back so should try to get the best out of him somehow.

Not just Tony but for others. Do you think he'd have outperformed Strand-Larsen in last years team? Not just goals but overall goals and contribution to the team overall.

No imo, Larsen is a decent Premier leahue striker if you plau hom in a semi functional team and he hasnt't lost his shit mentally.

No, I think JSL with the right attitude is pretty comfortably the better player
I don't know if you can separate the two tbh. It feels simultaneously harsh on Tolu and gracious to Strand-Larsen to take attitude out of the equation. I appreciate that that was sort of how the question was framed, so you're just following that (I'm not having a direct go at you, is what I mean).

The way JSL conducted himself is absolutely fucking unacceptable; he shouldn't have been in 18s, much less XIs.

That wasnt the question tbough, which was would Tolu have scored more goals than Larsen last season. Personally I think thats fanciful. I dont hate Tolu, I just think he's not that good.

Didn’t mean to misrepresent you or your opinion of Tolu, apologies.

Y’all are buds to me! Well, most of you.

I figure if I’m gonna be a woke ass (and regular ass tbf) so often, I need to own it.

In person, and despite my overall despondency, some of his hold up AND link play on Saturday was exceptional. Better than JSL by some way. Unfortunately, when given a half chance to get through on goal he never looks like taking it. In the box when trying to make or take a quick chance it looks even worse. JSL clearly misses his share, is ludicrously overpriced and often overrated - and that’s before his disgraceful faxing it in - but he’s quite a bit better.

My most dissapointing thing about Tolu is that for a big lad he cant head in a straight line (not even sure he's hit the target with one yet). Which makes no sense and is also where most of his chances are going to come in this league. He's not fast enough to run in behind and he's not nimble enough to steal a yard on PL level defenders.
