No good if they are hopelessly out of their depth though. Most of them end up in L2 at best, so professional debuts at Old Trafford maybe not best idea

I'd think they're more likely to thrive (however briefly) in that kind of experience.

Lembikisa is nowhere near good enough for Wolves (he's way behind Doherty, Hoever and Tchatchoua, would make you wonder if you're in the right career) but he had a good game at Anfield.

Fair point. Was very brief as he looked a competition winner in the replay.

Also a bit easier at RB in a functioning team than CB or CM in this one.

I think they would sink, unfortunately.

I watched the u21s at Braintree a few weeks back, no one in that side really looked like they belonged at NL level. I hope that I’m a poor judge of player, though.

So it has Derby's 11 point year, then the 2nd worst ever total, 3rd worse etc. Basically a definitive league that has every Prem' teams individual seasons in points total from most to least.

Swindon got 30 from 42 games in 1993/94 which would equate to 27 in a 38 game season.

We got 25 in 2011/12 and 33 in 2003/04, finishing bottom both times.

We are dreadful but we could actually catch Burnley who are in freefall (from not a very great height to start with).

I had a look at that Swindon side the other day as frequently mention them. Feel like Fjojttoft, Horlock and Moncur were basically there only players who played any sort of meaningful top flight football after that season (unless I missed someone), no wonder they were dreadful.

That all-time Premier table is interesting reading. The "big six" clubs basically scoring all the goals and everyone else scratching around trying to break even on goal difference. No real surprise, of course, some teams are expected win and some teams are there to make up the numbers and claim the money.

Brentford holding their own in this regard is quite an achievement. We should be looking to emulate their data-driven approach and analytics which, I assume, isn't how we've been do things based on how the past few years have gone.
