General Wolves News

So are we actually saying that we could only find 10-15 defenders better than Saiss, and and 10-15 midfielders better than Cundle, but Bruno didn't actually think most of them were really better, but the ones he did were either injured, didn't want to come, or were £5m above our 'fair' valuation? And that that was the sum of our "5000 player dossiers"?

But sellars and his team are doing a great job still?

That's where appointing a manager nobody else would have done comes in handy. He'll play along

Yep. People thought I was having a dig at him when I said that the other week, but it wasn't. It's the club, it's a deliberate strategy.

He won't complain because where else is he going to go, realistically? So for them it's ideal, take it or you know where the door is. Terrifies me who they'd appoint next though.

All that says to me is that we are more bothered about getting the right deal rather than the right player.

What do they say about the stadium? Presumably that they are looking at organic growth over risk investment and derailing funds for the team.

Surely this strategy only works in the very short term though? Maybe this transfer window just gone and that's it.

If we tear the league up between now and January playing really attractive football (a big, big if I know), there'll be no end of clubs sniffing about. Look at Marco Silva, literally a few good weeks at Hull and the man's been able to steal a living for years.

If they don't have the necessity to spend on the squad then they will look at it. Market conditions aren't currently right and it needs to funded by increased ticket revenue over a ten year period. Only looking at the Steve Bull by the sound of it and like Deutsch says it'll probably never be the right time.

What are his options then though? He's not going to get a bigger gig

Funded by ticket revenue over a 10 year period. What planet is he living on

Your probably looking at I don't know £60m for a moderate rebuild of the SB with an extra 4-5k seats maybe. That would mean those additional say 5k seats each year would need to pay £6m/annum. Each individual seat would need to pay £1200/ annum or based on 20 home matches generate £60 income per match.

The above is of course excluding any finance costs which would have to be factored into it which would push these figures up.

With the above rough maths you can see why there's not much hunger to update the ground

The 10 year basis belies Fosuns investment thinking to Wolves as an investment.

No, they didn't. We were already turning a profit, a profit we don't spend.
Looking at the W. W. (1990) Limited accounts as at 31 May 2020, the company has a retained loss of just over £130 million. In 2019, Wolves reported a retained loss of just over £90 million.

It was also interesting to note the Wolves owed £46 million in transfer fees & were owed £17 million in transfer fees.

I understand that basically a company cannot pay a dividend whilst it has a retained loss. So it looks as though it will be a long timme unitl Fosun can get any dividends from Wolves. It could explain why there is an attempt to funnel "brand revenue", whether real or imaginary, into other companies.

It's a paper loss. We were massively down on TV and prize money because the season didn't finish when it was supposed to.

The club supports itself. It did in the first place and then they "needed" to rake up prices. No they didn't. It's "someone will pay it so let's do it". Which is fine until the hypothetical "someone" doesn't pay it.

Even in May 2019, Wolves had an accumulated loss of £90 million. Yes, that £90 million is a paper loss but believed enough by The Inland Revenue that Wolves didn't need to pay any tax after declaring a £19 million profit.

At 31 May 2020, Wolves liabilities were £45 million more than their assets and only seem solvent because of the £78 million equity investment.

According to the cash flow statements in the accounts, the actual cash, Wolves were lent £56 million by Foson Group companies and spent £80 million on players.
In 2020, Wolves borrowed £25 million and spent £118 million on players.

That line where he attempts to justify the increase in ticket prices as a way of paying for a new stand in 10 years time is a fucking joke.

As I say, the blokes delusional and he thinks we're all stupid.

I want him gone from the position he is in - sack him off to concentrate on the esports if that's where his interest is - and employ someone who can actually run a football club and successfully deal with all the sectors on the football side. Jeff Shi is not that man - it couldn't be any clearer.

There's no way Jeff's getting sacked, he's doing a good job for the investment.

Fosun don't care about wolves fans being crowded into a shit stand, they are looking at the return on investment and all the other business ventures wolves have enabled them to pursue.

Where does he say that?

As Wolves net debt is somewhere over £250 million, I'd guess he's only going to be gone when somebody willing to pay at least that turns up.

The only real debt is about £116m loaned by Fosun. They paid £30m for us, so conservatively have doubled their investment. They could sell us for your hypothetical £250m tomorrow if they wanted to

Sorry, I explained it terribly. He said the increase in ticket prices could "pay back the debt" borrowed from the bank if we did an extension or rebuild of a stand. Still delusional.

I'm not saying sack him. I'm saying let him head up a team of people that focus on esports - which he is effectively doing at the moment - 200 people! - and employ someone else to take control of the running of a Premier League football club. Someone with a football background who understands that leaving a PL squad to go in to a season with three fit central midfielders does not constitute a "good window".
