It was Leeds who asked for it. They couldn't afford to pay it up front for FFP reasons. They tried the same to sign James from Swansea last year and Bowen this year.
Guess we wanted a transfer but happily took a deal that still guaranteed the same fee.

He was done a year before the loan, Leeds were absolute mugs to agree that fee. Works well for us though.

He’s a nice guy, and I wish him well - I don’t think he’ll ever get back to the sort of quality he used to have though, his injury did for him.

Well as Sky tell us every time they put Leeds on, Bielsa asked for Costa as part of his requirements to stay on at the club.
If we had known that we probably could have got more for him.

Good luck to Costa played a big big part in our promotion and was easily our best player the season before, sadly (for him, happily for us) we've just got better.

Disappointing some of the disrespect I've seen of him online, we're a fast growing club at the moment and seem to be rapidly getting better so inevitably we will 'out grow' plenty of players but shouldn't mean the part they played in our journey should be forgot/diminished....proper spoilt brat type fan behaviour that.

If Neto's struggling I'd be tempted to go 532 (Jota and Jimenez) would like an option on the bench (Traore) don't think Podence is anywhere near there yet (predict we'll likely see best of him next season).

I noticed a lot of this online following the defeat to Arsenal too, I suppose a lot of clubs have fans like this, but it really gets under my skin.

5-6 = Europa
FA Cup = Europa

- If FA Cup is won by a top 5 team (City, Chelsea, Man.U, Arsenal still left in), then it becomes:

1-4 = CL
5-7 = Europa

- If City are banned from Europe (not sure here):

1-5 = CL
6-8 = Europa

The last Europa Spot is the one that goes into Quali Rounds. So, if Man City stay in and the spots drop down to 7th like last year we need to finish 6th to get through to the Groups without having to spend weeks travelling across Europe

I believe if Utd or us win the Europa abd don' finish in the top 4 one of the Europa Spots goes as we can only have 7 teams in Europe. So say we finish 6th but win it, we just move across and no one takes our place. Not sure if the team then in 7th would still have to do Quali Rounds or would go straight to the groups

4 teams will be in the CL next season. The only way it'll be 5 is if Man U or Wolves win the Europa and don't qualify for the CL through the league. If that were the case the EL space from the league would be lost it wouldn't drop to someone else.

If City are banned, the team in 5th will go in the CL. 6th and 7th the Europa

If City aren't banned 5th and 6th will go into the Europa.

If Utd, Chelsea or City win the FA Cup then Europa goes down to 8th if City are banned. 7th if they aren't

If Arsenal win the Cup then they are automatically in the Europa. If they were to finish 6th and City aren't banned, Europa would be go 7th. If they were to finish 6th or 7th and City are banned then it would go to 8th.

If we win the Europa then straight into pot one of the champions league draw. If Chelsea were to also win the Champions League and finish in sixth then the fourth team qualifying for CL by league position would drop into the Europa. Otherwise it shouldn’t have much effect other than on the team winning the Europa if they were outside the CL qualification

There are 4 Champions League spots. You can actually have 5 teams in in the CL if the Europa League winner finishes outside the CL places. 5 is the maximum allowed by UEFA.

Correct. So the only way you only have three qualifiers by league position is if the CL and Europa winners are both Premier League teams that finish outside the CL qualifying places. That would make six teams so the fourth qualifier by league position is dropped into the Europa to bring it back to five teams.
