General Wolves News

2 seems way OTT.

If they've given them first dibs on paying for one I think it's fair and right thing to do.

I agree with this. They've been given the chance to buy a season ticket this season (some rumours of a reduced rate) so essentially jumping a 7k queue.

It's a pointless story run by a pointless man in a dire rag.

But a lot of them won't buy because they probably have little or no interest in watching Wolves or football in general. Apparently many were passing the tickets on to friends and family

In the late 80's early 90's I would regularly get 2 free tickets off someone who worked matchdays in the ticket office, (he couldnt see the match as he was working out the attendace figures when the match was on).

I always had free tickets when I was younger as my dad's mate sold the lottery tickets.

It's a difficult one to be honest, losing a benefit from work, but one that was being abused.

I think in the current climate of waiting lists then perhaps it is right, but still a difficult decision.

This may explain why we consistently had empty seats even at sell outs

"We give up our match days when others are with their friends in the pubs." - Problem solved!

Just a thought here, now with Laurie gone will Fosun change tact and move Wolves away from Molineux. Was Laurie the last line in keeping Wolves in central Wolverhampton..

It could be a possibility. It would be a brave move but I wouldn't rule it out.

Plenty of land in the Wombourne area, lovely pubs as well.

You can’t make money from the site of Molineux because of the covenant against developing it for anything other than a sports ground. So no is the simple answer.

That wouldn't stop Wolves leaving there though would it. Its not a Wolverhampton Wanderers FC have to play here rule.

If Wolves do leave ( I would put that about a 1 or 2% chance) plenty of things that could happen to keep it a Sporting Arena.

But terrible to get to unless you're in that part of the world already. I can't see Fosun putting a stadium somewhere so difficult to get to from the motorway network.

The only real possibilities are out by the M54, in the land reserved for Brinsford Parkway station or close by. There's no space out by M54 junction 1 due to the new road that will be built, and there's nowhere big enough inside the urban area. The only other vaguely possible parts of the world are near to M6 J11 (which is terrible in terms of public transport), or up near Gailey/Four Ashes where the rail hub is due to go. And the last is quite a long way out of the city proper, even if it is well inside the economic/functional area.

The rail hub is going to take a lot of space up here. Can’t see a stadium anywhere near here being viable. It’s a pointless discussion. Kenny says 1 to 2% chance. I’d say it was a thousand times less likely than that.

Yes, but I do live there and sod the rest of you if I can walk to the match in 15 minutes!

With Laurie there it was 0%. Just a few reading between the lines when Jeff has spoken about the stadium and now LD gone I think they will look at it a lot more than they would have 2 months ago

M54 J2, for the record I dont see us leaving molineux, whilst build cost would be cheaper and potential loss of income less, the cost of viable land and associated infrastructure would outweigh it IMO.

I think any throw away comment about leaving molineux is more of a gentle reminder to the council not to expect too much in return for the development.
