Which was the most viewed Premier League match ever worldwide, and why in particular did it attract such a large audience?

Edit: Clarified. Worldwide audience. Also... after further reading it turns out this record might've now been surpassed! Potential fact-checking fail. Oops.

I'll go Stoke and somewhere around 1971...Can't think of any of their players!
