FC Pyunik (H) Buildup Thread

Fair assessment Mark.

I think Vallejo is very good on the ball and we will utilise that.

Be interesting to see how he'd do in a more competitive game. He hit some nice passes like in the build up to the first goal but also gave it away sloppily a few times, never really under any great pressure from the opposition. Hopefully wouldn't turn into some John Stones style parody under pressure and end up Cruyff turning himself into a blackhole. Looks a lot more like being the player people wanted Miranda to be though, rather than the player Miranda actually turned out to be.

Vallejo was beautiful to watch, as was Neto. I'm going to love this season.

Second half I thought Traore showed some good glimpses, he was finally playing quick in his decisions, touch is still quite erratic but he was moving off the ball better, getting it under control and getting on the move much faster etc. Pleased to see that as been very critical of him, the run when he cut in side and laid it out for the overlap is the sort of thing I have never thought him capable of.

Kilman played a great ball over the top first half for Cutrone too, no one seems to have mentioned it but can see he has a decent range of passing ability, hope to see more involvement for him in some other games this year.

Slow start but massively encouraging after that. Good job we scored all the goals up the SB as my brother forgot his glasses the duffer.

Slowly Adama is improving his all round play. Neto really surprised me after all the Mendez favour stuff I've heard.
Patricks movement will cause a lot of problems for the opposition, was absolutely willing him to get off the mark.
Was surprised to see Moutinho playing but glad he did. MGW was great at times and a little off at others the goal can only do him good.

All in all we were great. MOTM Vinagre just but 4 or 5 close and Saiss is class.

We certainly have come am long way in scouting and aquisition.

Just watched about ten minutes of highlights. Now I KNOW that isn't the whole game so bear with me if you think differently from watching a whole 90, but that looked like Adama's best performance in a Wolves shirt. Loads of threat and end product.

He really was quite good in the second half very much his best so far, the haters will concentrate on one of the worst attempts on goal ever though.
I still havent given up on him but more important neither has Nuno.

Just got home. Enjoyed that.

I like the look of Neto. He is very quick and deceivingly strong - he worked very hard. Not sure he’s ready for PL football right now, but definitely something to work with. Cutrone is class but he’s trying too hard to score. I like the fact he shouts and moans at the others for not passing to him - he’s hungry to do well and that’s a good sign. Jesus grew in to the game, same as Kilman.

MOTM for me was Saiss. He’s just a brilliant squad player for us. Closely followed by Vinny. Traore was fine tonight, but just needs to calm things down with his crossing. It’s so frustrating to watch him beat three players and then over hit the cross, but that happened several times tonight (plus that comedy shot :icon_lol:) but he is definitely getting better.

Good to catch up with a few of you boys after.

Thought we did very well second half; enjoyed all the new lads' performances. Of course the opposition has to be taken into account but as it stands, Neto offers a great deal more than Costa.

Adama was better second half but I still find myself feeling an inordinate amount of relief when he finds a teammate.

First half - Playing well within ourselves. Happy for them to spend most of their time passing around at the back.
Cutrone, Neto and Vinagre the stand out players in that half.
MGW was not good and Jesus and Max had nervy starts

Second Half - All changed when we put Donk on. We then had an extra runner from midfield and that allowed MGW to roam across the final 3rd and become more involved. That and Donks runs cut through the solid lines they were playing. Traore clearly told to run at them in the 2nd half and their full back couldn't cope with him.

Ruddy had naff all to do for 91 mins but a smart save right at the end to keep his clean sheet.

Safe to say we can put the stuff about Neto to bed, he is a very good player. Also no need to worry about Cutrones first touch either.
Once Jesus settled (apart from being lucky to escape a red) I thought he showed that he will be very useful in those games where Benno's weakness is exposed as he can come out of defence with the ball and can pick a pass.

Not too much to add to the above. I think ultimately we'll see Vallejo replace Bennett but not for a while. Right now he does look too rash, but no way does Ryan Bennett ever play that pass for the first goal, or the long ball to Cutrone in the first half.
Like many I was sceptical of the fee paid for Neto, but thought he did well, as did Cutrone. I was really impressed by his ball control and someone hit the nail on the head when they said he isn't unhappy, he just has the same body language as Ronaldo - wants to be int he game all the time.
People will rave about the last goal (I thought it was right to bring Diogo and Raul on for a bit of extra sharpness) but watch the 2nd goal again - the speed of it was lovely to watch, and all from players who only started shaving a year ago.

Lastly a clip from Twitter which made me laugh, just in case you missed it:

Cutrone & Neto: Goals, assists, great link up play. We'll have given the boss something to think about there
Jota & Jimenez: Hold our beer...

Seeing a lot of praise for Traore but sorry it seemed a normal performance from him to me. No doubt he's exciting to watch but apart from one assist his crosses were all overhit, mostly due to him having no control when he gets to the byline. I'm no Traore hater but still has a long way to go and I don't think he has enough time to improve, at rwb he is third choice behind Doc and Jonny. He was right in front of us first half and so frustrating at times. Leaving aside the comedy goal attempt (everybody burst out laughing near us) the more annoying thing was he had 2 chances to play MGW in who was in acres of space in the box, his decision making is terrible and I'm not sure he can change. Still hoping he comes good but he's running out of time for me

First half was standard Traore. Kept over hitting his crosses. 2nd he had more purpose in his runs and looked before crossing he was a genuine threat and they started to double up on him, even when he wasnt on the ball and Donk and MGW took advantage of that space

It's difficult to judge Traore (or, if we're honest about it, anyone else). Pyunik played well in the first half but when we stepped up to 3rd gear there was a huge gap in quality.

Back onto Traore, this is his forte, running at people who aren't very good! His problem isn't ability or even that his crossing isn't great, his problem is out thinking top quality players.

Anyway, a good team performance and good to see some of the reserves get a run out. Also good to see a superb, final, goal!

I thought there was enough in Traores game to give confirmation bias - he did some crap stuff especially first half with the overhit crosses and that shot, so that if you think he was crap you can continue thinking it. He did quite a lot that was excellent though - he beat two or three men for fun, got an excellent assist, and his passing was really perceptive at times, so if you think he’s getting better there was a lot there for you too.

Cutrone man of the match for me - I thought he was superb.

The first half was a bit of a non event but I really enjoyed the second half. Dendoncker made a difference and Gibbs-White looked a lot better after he'd come on.

I agree with Jinky about Saiss, I thought he played really well. Cutrone looked good but was trying too hard - hopefully he'll get a goal fairly quickly to calm himself down a bit. Neto was a better than I had expected too although it is hard to judge him properly against that opposition. For all his faults, I love watching Traore in games like this where it doesn't matter if he spanners a shot or a few crosses.

I thought Pyunik passed it around nicely at times too. It didn't really get them anywhere but they had some good touches.

Very much looking forward to the Torino games now!

Great to meet T-Dan and Cyber yesterday.

Where did everyone go after the game? They wouldn’t let us in Boho.
