FC Pyunik (H) Buildup Thread

I thought Kilman did OK. Poor start but he recovered well which shows some mental strength. The most exciting thing for me is that those players are so young. Someone just posted on Twitter that 5 years ago we beat Gillingham in front of 19,000. Now we have some of the most exciting young players around

Bit harsh, it's his first senior start. Had a bit of a wobble early on but recovered well. Did well enough and used the ball well

Maybe so, and probably only meant in relation to just how well the other newbies played.

I know Pyunik were only a couple of shades up from Crusaders so our front lads had a bit more space to have fun in than we might expect against United for example, but Jota's ball to Raul who just stood on it, then lifted it nicely over 2 defenders and as it came down Jota who had continued his run realised it was falling slightly behind him and fell back away from his marker to volley it (almost overhead but more slightly sideways) into towards the top left corner past a flying stretched out keeper (in a shit grey kit). Just lovely, lovely football.
Hello lads...

If this team can replicate that type of performance against the big boys in the PL, it is truly scary how good we can be and what we could achieve...

Hello lads...
As always...about 30 minutes behind the action[emoji6]

Nice to see you back WH

Yes I know, just saw that a couple of guys still hadn't seen it even though there are a couple of twitter links. Then my daughter (now 6!) was on her way to bed, marvelling that we'd scored 8!
Slowed me up a bit!

It was a SEXUAL goal. Loved it.

Bring on United, and then bring on Torino.

On the train back . Genuinely nice to meet up pre match with so many of you. Paddy, boozad has a little something for u in lieu of beer. Neto Traore looked good. Cutrone looks an astute piece of business. Jesus looked assured if a shade fortunate with a clumsy foul when on a yellow. Tfft when mgw finally broke his duck. Jota strike worthy of the ticket price alone.

Glad you had a great time you silly old bugger. Make it regular and I can buy you a pint at your next visit.

Well, turns out that I missed the wrong half of the match.

I actually can't wait to shake your hand and enjoy a pint and a natter. Gutted I couldn't be there tonight (even though I should have been many miles away). Being back home and not being at the game is terrible from a personal point of view.

Cutrone MOTM.

Good to see so many people today.

He played well but for me Saiss was motm.

Blame traffic and roadworks for me not being in 30 mins earlier!

I don't accept your excuse.

Cutrone was going mad first half at Traore floating the ball in, second half he started keeping it on the floor, much better. I thought we were getting a fox in the box with Cutrone but hes so much more, drops deep to link play and puts a shift in defensively. I really think hes going to be a great player for us.

Netto was pretty damn lively and cut in the same mould as Jota. Kilman is capable of a decent pass and Vinagre is bloody unreal for his age. So pleased for MGW to score, I forget his age at times as hes been around the first team for so long

Bit disjointed first 15 minutes but you'd expect that with 9 changes and a quite young team. Kilman and Vallejo gave the ball away a few times each but soon settled. Cutrone worked hard and obviously has some class. Neto was brilliant, good on the ball, quick, closed down well, chuffed he got a goal. MGW was a little off the pace early on but improved at the end of the first half and was excellent second half imo. Thought it was a really good workout for the new guys and youngsters.
Traore was his usual self, a few exciting runs but too much dross.
Enjoyed it very much

Bit of an odd game I thought, mixture of professionally getting the job done and some sloppy moments where people looked like they took things for granted a bit too much. Obviously the much better side though and comfortably got the job done with little chance of it going any other way.

Thought Kilman looked a bit clunky, particularly early on, got some football in him but no way he's holding his own in the Premier League as things stand.

Vallejo seems to have a bit of a rash streak, think the big lunge that got him booked could have seen him get a red on another day and then the late challenge second half could easily have been the second yellow. Think both those situations came about from him giving the ball away with sloppy passes too but he's certainly not a write off by any means, just don't think there's enough on that showing to worry Bennett just yet.

Midfield all able to coast through the game, Pyunik barely laid a glove in any of them. MGW perhaps a little sloppy early on but grew into it, particularly second half.

Traore pretty quiet first half, other than that awful shot, but much more involved second half. Still a lot of areas to work on but you can see he's adding more to his game, picking his moments when to run at people rather than just getting his nut down and pegging it every time. His crossing can still be very hit and miss, think probably because it's often a Jarvis style rush to smash something in before the ball runs out of play rather than being fully in control of it. However, a tidy little headed link up with Dendoncker, a nice little pass through into MGW when two defenders were trying to block him off and felt for him a bit on the first goal as he actually ran in behind for a change only to see Cutrone better placed to run into the pass. Still doesn't really justify his fee but at least getting some use out of him now, even if just providing an opportunity to rest Doherty in games like tonight but might have a role in games when defending is off the agenda.

Neto looks a tidy footballer, difficult to read too much into against this standard of opposition but there's at least something to work with. Not sure he's really a centre forward but there's something to work with there, decent work rate too. Thought might have kept him on with Jota and Jimenez to see if there was potential for a return to 343 if required.

Cutrone looks a bit like someone trying too hard at times, seems a decent enough all rounder but don't think he's particularly graceful so often looks a bit ropey in some aspects. Massive improvement on last year's replacement for the forward line though, think a goal or two will help settle him down. Expect he'd be at his best alongside Jimenez so he hasn't got to put as much focus on trying to be a focal point and can concentrate more on being the final outlet.

Thought Pyunik tried to play a bit where they could, fair play to them as their heart was never really going to be in it given the way the tie was set. Don't think any of their players looked anything special but they put a few decent passing combinations together.
