It shows that when he got the ball, his instinct was to knock it backwards into centre midfield, rather than to run at the full back or try and find the forwards. It doesn't show that the movement from the forwards was limited to say the least. The positions and passing sequences are what I'd expect to see if we were 2 or 3 up at half time seeing the game out. It suggests we were more comfortable than we really were

To be fair it doesn't necessarily indicate backward passes, the lines are just drawn between average positions so the midfield may have been more advanced, unlikely I know, when he made the passes to them.

He would've been on a bit of a hiding to nothing though wouldn't he, rarely much ahead of him so it's either go back and been seen as negative or constantly running at his man, not really his game, or limping hopeful stuff towards the box and probably losing possession, which probably gets him called shit or wasteful at least.

I think we all agree that with the impending return of Jonny, Podence & the signing of Willian Jose we have enough quality in the side to put some sort of form together.

Didn't he get caught in possession in a couple of early games leading to good chances or goals? Presume he's either been told to cut it out or has lost a bit of confidence. With us creating precious little through midfield we have to have our full/wing backs bombing on either conventionally or inverted like Doherty

I thought that in the first half Hoever was one of our better players. Turning round and having to pass back was due to the options around him. RAN must also get pissed off when runs his bollocks off to give an option down the line yet never gets the ball. Yes he's creating space for others but when a move breaks down it must frustrate him. I'm not referring so much regarding this to last night but in other recent games.

We've all got eyes, we can all see how poor we were, we can all see how low confidence has become but I'm happy that we are in the next round.

It's definitely a frustratingly common occurrence. Hoever did this most of the game yesterday, even Neto and Traore do this a lot of the time. It just kills momentum and allows teams to regroup, and we're back to our unimaginative plan A, fling hopeful crosses in to unsuitable and outnumbered players.

When Hoever did eventually cut inside he actually drew quite a dangerous fk until Joao over thought it.

Can't be too harsh on Ki-Jana though, like Donk, being responsible for a huge portion of our attacks isn't really his natural game! He's definitely got something to bring to this team though.

quite like Hoever and think he really could be good for us...he has his mind up going forward in his mindset but had some bad crosses..need to work on that or as DW suggested maybe a future CB..he has the pace and height for it

Hoever stopped his run though, so when Joao hit it he wasn't already moving and no chance of getting it.

There's a lack of collective responsibility I think, though it seems like it's driven that way from the top. There doesn't seem to be the desire to attack as a unit, the team is divided between those with the freedom to attack and those that have to be cautious. Rarely going to work well when it's only 2-3 players at a time that are seemingly allowed any sort of freedom from the burden of defending at all costs.

Think Hoever would've been offside if he hadn't paused his run, should've just abandoned the idea. Don't mind a bit it a mad set piece routine but none of the ones I've seen Wolves try ever look to have been rehearsed at all, like Moutinho just makes a fist of whatever happens to be around him at the time

Hoever definitely made forward runs with the ball several times, at least first half, broke into the box a couple times before being crowded out. He didn't have the best game but he tried to make things happen, can't knock him for that.

RAN was just as high up the pitch several times but nobody passed him the ball. Tbf he did try a few dribbles and lost it, so might've played into that a bit. But nobody seemed to want to go onto that side to support him.

It was notable when Neto came on the two of them started linking and RAN became much more involved. Didn't lead to much but you could see there was an understanding there.

I might be misremembering (I'm not going to rewatch to confirm) but I could swear at one point Neto was in our half yelling at Coady to pass it to RAN as he was in space and Coady just ignored him and knocked it sideways.

Yes we were poor, and frankly even at the start of the season we weren't great.
So I look at the situation in a different way to most.
No pre season, some dumb international breaks before the team had really got into training, our worst season for injuries, made devastating by the injury to Raul. I would also add the corona catastrophe to this, it is affecting teams , even those with not so many overseas players not able to get home, obviously worried about their families, and frankly simply not able to get together in the evenings with their own countrymen. They are at home, they come to training, a break their wives and families don't get, and then they go home again. Jeez I'm bored shirtless and I can out a bit at least to walk the beach or the forests.
HOWEVER!! As far as last might was concerned I have wanted only one thing, to win the game!
No I wasn't there but I was supporting wolves all through the crisis and trust me as a true wolves supporter, it don't get any lower, or not unless we had lost last night.
Yes we are in a mess, but we would have been in a shit storm of apocalyptic proportions had we lost last night, and frankly if we had needed to play kick and rush to win it , I wouldn't have given a toss.

I've said exactly the same a couple of times. Last time we lost against them was 35 years ago, and it's never been forgotten, until last night.
