[FA Cup 3rd Rnd] Liverpool 2-2 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Raul's lack of awareness or selfishness for some is a concern. A few times yesterday especially in the 2nd half with Dexter bombing down the right he just seems to want to take on the world, a simple lay off and Dexter rolls it in Adama (I think). He just walks into traffic and its a major concern for me.
The big one in the 2nd half, he had 2 or 3 options but went for a Freddy Eastwood special from 25 yards, that was born out of the fact he knew he was coming off and the strikers selfish streak took over as he knew it was his last chance to score. That happens 10 mins earlier I reckon he makes a pass.

Raul look ok to me, obviously hugely rusty and that match sharp touch not there (thankfully at times as if he gets the back heel to Hodge correct we probably then don't score from Allisons brain fart moment).

I haven’t seen anything to suggest cundle is anymore ready than hodge tbh.

Given we haven’t seen cundle under Lop, but hodge was ok last night I felt, and is effectively 5th choice CM
Hodge isn't a 10 but Cundle is.

Having seen both in the U21 (23's as it was) Cundle is comfortably head and shoulders ahead of Hodge in terms of ability.

He's playing plenty at Swansea so may be counter productive unless he was going to play 30 minutes every game for us.

Ok Mr voice of fucking reason..

I like Cundle but for his development there is no need to bring him back here this window.

Il bow to your knowledge of the u23s as can’t say I’ve watched. Have seen very little of cundle to have any opinion.

Just seems counter productive to me when as you said he’s playing at Swansea. Anyway, if we are fixated on playing a 10 I’d rather us go and get one. I wouldn’t want cundle, or hodge being first choice starter, in any position currently.

I think that's where I am with him too. I'm hoping with a preseason with Lop we see him fulfill his potential.

Agree with all this, tbf Raul has been greedy from day one, just at his peak he turned some of it into goals and assists. As I said earlier the minutes will do him good, he will improve under JL and I think we still need him.

It's called awareness, it's been scientifically proven that players will see a splash of Colour in their peripheral vision and know exactly who / What it is.

Also been proven most footballers have a higher than average range of Peripheral Vision.

I think it was the BBC that did a Live on this looking at a few goals including one where Rooney, never even looked, and put a pinpoint pass, it was then shown the arm containing the shirt (colour), was in his peripheral vision.
Gomes is looking the opposite way to Salah, that's outside his peripheral vision, he's not a rabbit.

Only watched a couple of U23 games but thought Hodge was head a shoulders above Cundle in them, which surprised as I was expecting Cundle to be “too good for that level” whereas he was average and a guy I’d never heard of at the time was running the midfield.

Bueno, Campbell and Lembikisa also stood out although DL looked a bit raw technically.

I'd have put Cundle top of the u21 tree in terms of ability but from what I remember he was a bit more lightweight than Hodge. Next on the CM list is Griffiths who has ability but not to the level of Hodge & Cundle. Ronan always did alright but then you'd expect him too.

Could be worse couldn’t it but away to somewhere miles away is always shit even if they are very beatable

I've read some nonsense on here but this really made me laugh.

You really dislike Hodge, ay
Nothing to do with that. He played a total of 8 times in PL2 starting 3 and only once with Cundle so Punts is frankly talking nonsense.

They did play together in the PL2 final.

That game at Albion is the one sticking in my head. Hodge looked good, Cundle bang average. Small sample (like I said 2 games) and he was better in both. Not nonsense, my opinion.

He had a good game yesterday but you probably won’t allow yourself to admit that?
