“The FA”. No mention of who or where. Just, “The Football Association”.

If that doesn’t imply what the English FA feels about its place in world football I don’t know what does.

I’m done, this is riling me too much and I don’t want to get even snippier, but it’s tremendously disheartening that this stuff doesn’t bug people in the least.
You'd be better off directing that ire at the 'world series'

And I do. It’s also remarkably stupid that any of our big leagues here frame their championships as “world” anything.

“World Series” is dripping in the worst kind of American Exceptionalism, and I despise that about it.

I try my best to be Equal Opportunity with my bullshit.

The NHL can't even get the name of their sport right, so...

We gave you baseball as well...you are welcome

It was the first one, it had no need to differentiate itself. It's not exceptionalism just the reality of history
Same goes for the RFU. These organisations formed when people barely knew that other countries existed. The FA could rebrand now to become the EFA (the football league only became the EFL relatively recently), but I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone call for it - and it's the sort of thing I'd have expected to hear in Wales if anyone felt strongly about it.

As for denigrating the Saudi league, it's a fact that I'd be far more misty-eyed watching a Neves free kick go in if he was playing in an established league with fans and a culture around the sport where the people watching cared. You obviously can't create a culture overnight, I agree, but that doesn't mean we have to care about him scoring goals there - any more than him scoring a goal against his mates in the park. That's not saying he's playing park quality football, but he may as well be in terms of how much joy I take from seeing him score for a manufactured team in a manufactured league which is signing players for outrageous money, with no desire to create an organic footballing culture.

Did not know that!

Germany had a go for a bit as part of NFL Europe. The Hamburg team (Sea Devils, why) was around long after I left though.

I’m always in the market for NFL Europe gear.

Looking into it, there's a sort of NFL Europe II going. And I have played where Hamburg play now! Stadion Hoheluft.

That's pretty normal isn't it? He has to get the fans on his side as Cooper was so popular.
Cooper was loved by most of the forest fans, smart from nuno. Hardly going to go In and tear lumps out of him

I have noticed in Nuno's interviews so far he has been praising Cooper and what he did there, no criticism or saying he is in to improve things whatsoever...
It was all in his very first interview Lupo.

"We have to now evolve, grow and become better. This is the step which I feel is important for us to compete well in the Premier League, which is the best competition in the world.

"We want to improve players, improve the team and if the team improves then we improve the club".

This is it. This is what bugs me.

This all reads as “football is ours, you can’t have it”.
I don’t think that’s how it reads to me.

If we compare England to the US, football is the national sport. I’m sure a high percentage of youngsters grow up wanting to be footballers because they are seen in totally different light to any other athletes. More popular than tennis, cricket, rugby etc so there’s always going to be large amounts of focus into football, predominantly

In the US, soccer is behind the major sports currently, and whilst it is getting more popular, it’s light years behind NFL, Baseball, Basketball etc.

Wasn't expecting him to. It just reminded me of GO's early days when he kept making veiled comments about the previous manager here as if Lopetegui had been a bombscare and he was riding in to the rescue

Fairs. Different circumstances though isn’t it. It wouldn’t have suprised me if cooper was hated by forest nuno would’ve conducted a very different press conference.

With his appointment, be interesting to see how he manages a squad of 30 odd with his preference for a small squad

They were discussing it on the radio yesterday and it was said he is already instilling the same disciplines as he did here, e.g. English to be spoken by everyone, those that don't must learn, all eating in the canteen together.

Not seen what staff he has taken with him and if they are largely the same as here apart from his no.2 that he fell out with.

Mrs Lupo can't take this in, she loved Nuno but being a Derby fan she can't handle the fact that he's now at Forest!
