Espanyol (A) 27/2 2nd Leg Build Up and Match Thread

We're not a team that's capable of playing within themselves. That's what we tried to do tonight and couldn't. Decent lesson to learn assuming we do

Game over - just wonder whether the first leg score subconciously left us a bit less than fully engaged tonight - intensity wasn't really there which it might have been if it had been only 2 - 1 in the first leg.

How to lose a game from a position of strength.

Not great by any means.

Positives Podence and Vinagre

Negatives defensively asleep, mgw still does one thing right , two things wrong

Still it was a game we could afford to lose.

Bring on the Y... Spurs lol

I don't get this. We won the tie easily. The result tonight is about as relevant as the vote count for the Monster Raving Loony party.

Wrong

Go and listen to Nuno or look at Moutinhos face as he walked off. Pissed off. They do not like losing especially sloppily and tonight was sloppy.

Oh yes - and he will care behind closed doors I imagine. End of the day it is irrelevant. We are in the hat. Espanyol aren't.

Nice one YW. Keep your wits about you. Where did you get your ticket from in the end?

Tourist centre in Catalunya square! No one was bothered by us at all tbh think it was fairly obvious we were English ha

Yep.
Defend like that or play like that at spurs and we come away with nothing.
As TT says we can't play within ourselves.

Can someone explain how Neto missed? Was at other end to us and it looked like he could have just walked it in?

He didn't look up.

The horror on his face when he did will become a viral meme !

We could in the wider context of the tie. We should have won 3-2 but missed a freak open goal. I couldn’t give a shit that we lost by one when we were four ahesd

We won't defend like that. This was a dead rubber. Spurs is key this week. And that is why putting them to the sword in the first leg was such a huge bonus.

We're through and that's all that matters but we did struggle tonight and i think it was due to a number of things. Some players were clearly playing within themselves and found that hard and we struggled without a striker imo. Think Campana should have played some part. We're through though and i doubt there will be another game like that this season where we're already through before playing.

BTW - We just did and managed the tie. If we hadn't we would be in extra time or something rather than absolutely coasting through.

Find Vinagre so frustrating - if he focussed less on tricks and doing everything himself, he’d be a far better player.

Nice game from Podence.

Could & should have walked it in as he had the beating of the defender for pace.

Saw the goal & just hit it without thinking.
