On the day we appointed Saunders (that still turns my stomach, eight years on), we were six points clear of the bottom three with 20 games left to play. We were also terrible, and anyone can beat anyone in the Championship. And we'd just handed the keys to the worst manager in the entire Football League.
Today we are 11 points clear of the bottom three, albeit Fulham have two games in hand on us currently, and we have 21 games left to play. Albion and Sheff Utd are 14 and 20 points (plus goal difference) behind us respectively, with no games in hand. We are not terrible, and Fulham (let alone Brighton/Burnley/Newcastle etc) are highly unlikely to all go flying up the table, they'll lose more than they win.
It'd be beyond Saunders levels of catastrophe, it'd be a completely freakish event. If it bothers anyone that much, we're 80/1 with Sky Bet to go down right now. I would suggest that isn't even a good price, the actual chances are closer to 800/1.
