Coronavirus

That's good to know, I've also heard (not sure on the veracity of the claim) that the focus is on the smaller homes with over 80s with less occupancy so it stands to reason the numbers might be lower than usual IF this is true
A high % of over 80's and care homes are done. So if GP's in those areas are doing home visits their numbers per day will dramatically drop.

With them moving to the next group from yesterday there will be a delay there as they contact people and get them booked in. As long as at the end of the week the target numbers are being hit its all good.

More places are opening in the coming weeks. Where I live currently has no vaccine centre but I know the Telford hospital in charge of Shropshire are currently interviewing for staff to cover 6 or 7 centres.

Can people from your area use the Woodside (Telford) vaccination centre?
We got one opening Monday here in Newport

It seems at the moment those who have been asked to come in are having to go to Oswestry. So until the local one opens I guess the new ones will start inviting people to them. It won't be long until we get ours though.

Nearest one for me (when I get the call) is 12 miles away at Sturminster Newton as we have only had the Phizer one so far & that's the only GP centre with facilities to store it.

Not a problem for me as am still mobile (well I am now I have recharged the car battery after it went flat from non use) but an issue for those who don't/can't drive as there is limited public transport.

Don't expect any contact for at least 3 weeks anyway so if the Oxford one is delivered to the locality by then the local centre they used for the flu vaccines in town might be opened up again.

Priti Vacant caught on tape saying we should have closed our borders in March.

I like how our glorious leader when questioned by SKS about this just called him Captain Hindsight again. I mean, this isn't him saying you should have closed the borders back then, its his own Cabinet member which he must have overuled but yeah, go down the Trump road again and again and give people silly pointless nicknames.

Another fantastic waste of time and resources which may actually cause more cases than it prevents.

So, they've u-turned on this now. Sorry, not a u-turn. Just paused it. Paused the whole testing in schools programme that we've plunged our already depleted resources, people and time into.

And get this - some of the devices being sent out by the DfE are infected with a network worm that made their way on to the devices shortly after manufacture in 2019. When active it propagates over the network and contacts Russian servers.

Clearly no system preparation or quality control happening before the devices are sent to schools. They've clearly been sat in a warehouse for over a year before shipped off to schools.

The DfE literally infecting school's networks. You couldn't make it up.

It's an old virus (from 2012) so you would hope most establishments would have the requisite anti-virus in place to snuff it out. But there will be some unfortunate IT techs out there unwittingly infecting their own school networks in order to get these devices set up and into the hands of students as quickly as possible. And then what of the students who are receiving these devices. As soon as they stick in on their home wifi they could have potentially infected other PCs and laptops at home.

You can't make this shit up man!

The numbers for next 10-14 days are going to be horrendous.

At least we pegged back the 5 day Christmas plans to just 1 day, the numbers if we hadn't listened to Captain Hindsight would melt our brains

"Yesterday, over 343k people were reported to have received the first dose of the vaccine in the UK. "

Perhaps someone has (made it up), though. Where's it from? Looks like a classic hoax meaasge to me. Nothing on the govt 'Get laptops and tablets' page.

My dad just called and told me his holiday booked for May has been cancelled. Not a good sign really.

Deaths will keep rising for the next 10 days even if infections & hospitlisations start falling back.

More deaths yesterday than on the titanic. And then we go higher again. The figures are just hideous. Today we added two Aberfans to the Titanic. And things are going to get worse for a while yet. It’s just so awful.
