Coronavirus

Little bit harsh on Parkin tbf, but yes that seems to be how it works. With added toilet paper.

He's 70 soon. He old, man.

I'm an underemployed writer, I'm probably the least at risk. I never go anywhere.

Actually, other than Parkin I don't know many old people now. My grandparents are dead, my Dad is away and I rarely see my mother.

So I can go around being a virus spreading motherfucker.

That's the way it works, right?

I'm not old - just nicely matured (plus have probably been pickled over the years which is as good a theory to avoid problems than anything else I have heard so far! :)) - all I wil need is one of these :paperbag_125:

Would be more at risk if I was 60 but had an underlying health condition

Pickled = acidic blood, so according to one of our posters you will be fine :)

"Take it on the chin" says our cunt of a PM.

I hate him so much.

TBF my post was 'tongue in cheek', but clearly I will take appropriate precautions without going into panic mode though just wish others would & not clear supermarket shelves of some items when there have been no cases reported locally (not to say that no one is infected without suffering significant symptoms).

Fucking hell it's proper kicking off today. Most European countries banning events over 1000, banning flights to and from Italy, football behind closed doors. Guardian blog is updating at a rapid pace

Hopefully they'll be banning flights to and from the UK as well, since we appear to be doing fuck all.

Next 2 rounds of La Liga will be played behind closed doors

Had to take the decision that I will not be attending any more this season (live with and care for my 92 year old mother, lots of health issues).

Have 180 points, so if anyone can use my number going forward, PM me on a match by match basis. (Already gone for Olympiacos.)

Nottingham forest owner - who was at the game at the weekend with a 27k attendance - has confirmed he has corona virus

Not to stick up for Johnson, but I did read earlier that the decision when to start wholesale isolation is being taken very seriously - people will only stick being in isolation for so long, start too early and people will re-emerge and the infection will grow. We need to time the start of isolation to reduce the peaks. Something I read has worked quite well in Italy:
As the whole of Italy goes into lockdown, there are some reassuring signs that measures are starting to work. Across the 11 towns that went into quarantine more than two weeks ago, the number of cases is beginning to fall.

Yeah, I don't think we need isolation just yet, just common sense. There is a middle way.

Thankfully the Chief Medical/Science advisers seem...erm, better(??) equipped, than our learned friends in No.10 so I'm holding out the hope that they are running the show.

Boris clearly agrees with you, but I think that is a blinkered view. Think of all the people someone attending a match (or any mass gathering) comes within a metre of: on public transport on the way; in the pub or getting refreshment elsewhere; as part of the crowd walking to the game; as part of the queue to get in (and how many people could an infected security guard infect?); on the concourse; getting to your seat; half time beer/pie/piss; and then the whole thing in reverse. Every person attending will have interactions with literally hundreds of people they could either infect or be infected by, not just a handful. When you go to a pub (which I also don't think is particularly wise, but hey-ho), that figure is probably reduced by a factor of 50. We're not talking about a long-term measure; it will all be over in a couple of months. I don't think a few weeks' sacrifice of something that is hardly an essential element of our lives is too much to ask if it will prevent god knows how many deaths.

It isn’t Boris’ view though is it, it is the view of medical experts who have access to real time data making informed decisions. Time and time again I have heard informed and educated people saying that although it sounds counter intuitive, banning large scale events is not the right response at the moment and I am inclined to agree with that. Once that decision is made it is likely to remain in place for some time and the longer these type of restrictions are in place the harder it becomes to enforce them. As you quite rightly point out, it is the number of smaller interactions that have more potential to enable the spread of the virus so it won’t just be mass events that have to be restricted and if you are banning mass events to prevent all the smaller interactions where the real risk exists...you have to ban all of the smaller interactions not just those associated with mass spectator sports.

As we have seen in Italy, as soon as you start on this road it will increase sharply. Italy were one of the first countries to ban flights coming in from certain parts, they were taking temperatures on arrival...it didn’t stop the virus taking hold. What I don’t want is politicians making political decisions, I would rather they did what they were told by people who have some idea about what is effective.

I have a dilemma!
corona came to my island this week when some numpty vicar in our major town (40kms away) where we have to go for banking, electricity payments, mega supermarkets etc. The twat said he had a cold for the last 15 days and proceeded to carry on as normal. In cafes, supermarkets, the kin church etc etc.
so!!! when the police collared the twat, locked him in his house, and told him to stay home he said he was in god's hands and climbed out the window and went back to the main town for a coffee with his pals.(all wearing dresses i hasten to ad).
how i wish he was in my hands.....however that is not my serious dilemma.
I have a personal theory that if i drink 2 (not more) cypros a day my blood will be mostly cypro (pure alcohol) and the corona virus on entering will just get pissed and unable to perform.
Now i am no scientist, but i like my theory and am sticking with it, NOW HOWEVER, THE DILEMMA.
I read yesterday from a world renowned scientist that having a wank ( he said masturbation) actually helps to increase the strengh of your immune system, hence my dilemma.
have can i benefit from both thoeries without spilling the fucking cypro???????
