Comedians

If you're in London, go check these guys out https://www.alwaysbecomedy.com/

I've seen some very famous people for barely two figures regularly. It's essentially a comedy club for famous people trying new material so you can't complain if all the jokes don't land. (Hint the newsletter tells you who some of the secret acts are. Currently Jack Dee and Joe Lycett are doing most of them). Ironically it was one of the lesser known names thay impressed me the most, Nick Helm.

I quite like Nick Helm. His wooing of Susie Dent wore a bit thin after the umpteenth time but he's pretty funny otherwise.

He also did a great Christmas song on the regular 8OOTC.

Thanks for the heads-up on that, looks fantastic.
So used to getting absolutely creamed when buying tickets for anything so quite refreshing to learn about that.
South of the river so a bit of a bonus in getting home too.

Definitely getting on that, thanks 👍

Nice one! I’ll defo check this out

Mind if I ask what part of London you guys are from? Just curiosity, often wondered, especially south of the river.

I'm around Wandsworth but not a Londoner. It's why I get to a few Wimbledon games each year, they aren't a bad watch and doesn't cost an arm and a leg

Went to see Justin Moorhouse tonight in Melbourne (Derbyshire). Tight set and very comfortable with the audience participation, but strange place to play as it's sizzling gammon so a lot of the political stuff that I'm sure works well in 95% of the country was met with near silence

Saw Tom Davis tonight, he was OK. Think I prefer the bloke to the comedian though

I would suggest if you are in a queue, keep the main Ticketmaster or Gigs and Tour page open and refresh it. New dates keep getting added. Was 300,000 in the queue but refreshed and Leeds in 2024 appeared and was straight in and able to book 2 tickets via G&T
November 2022 for the above post.

Will be at this gig on Saturday!

Travelling up tomorrow and will work in the office, then that enables me to reclaim the mileage expenses for the trip 😎

waiting for october for my chance to see this gig. Did have tickets for the cancelled tour too (suspect I had good seats for that too!)

The wife is/was a massive Peter Kay fan, but she's now not really bothered! Think she got frustrated by the cancelled tour tbh.

Longest previous wait was either fro Crowded House - their 2020 tour (tickets bought in 2019) was postponed and happened in summer 2022 (was a great gig too), or Penn and Teller, which was moved from 2021, to 2022 then again to 2023.

Half time at Richard Herring - Can I Have My Ball Back. Absolutely hilarious, cry laughing. A very serious subject (testicular cancer) but very funny.

I forgot to mention last week. Stewart Lee's new stand up special - Basic Lee - is on Sky channels now.

I've only watched half of it so far but it's his usual brand of stuff.

Keep trying, however don't expect front row! Just got decent seats for Oct 2024 via see tickets which didn't work most of the morning.
I kept getting things gone wrong messages too.
nov 12 2022, today the date has arrived.
fingers crossed mrs jelly doesn't test positive for covid in the next few hours a la mrs @Kenny ....

not sure what to expect. Can't tell whether the good lady is looking forward to the show yet. Bought tickets to keep her happy so...

also have tickets to see Ahir Shah next february.
Plus, have a new colleague at work who's PhD thesis was about stand up comedy. Lots of interesting chats abound!

I wish life was as simple as a bout of Covid for her right now. That was the start of a journey that now has her waiting for some major surgery and the possibility something lurking that is cancerous.
Ace topic for a comedians thread I know but it's been a stressful period to say the least.
