Coffee

Don’t know if you’re into cappuccino and latte, but I got a Sage Bambino a year ago - it’s ace.

I adore my Clever Dripper, though I still do traditional pour-overs with a Kalita Wave when I have the time.

@Tredman are you amenable to manual grinders? You get much better bang for your buck if so.
Picked up a clever dripper today and I really like it. How coarse / fine a grind should be used?

I use roughly the same coarseness as I would in a press. So, fairly coarse.

But the real correct answer is “to taste”. Experiment, have fun with it!

I had a clever dripper delivered today too having been inspired bu here. Excited to give it a go tomorrow!

I've been looking for a portable coffee maker just for the office (up yours pret), any recommendations? A few out there at the £100 mark but hard to know what's decent and what isn't.

I’ve got a De Longhi, very good, have two cups every morning, first one with Baileys. 😉

I really want one, need to convince my wife. I'm the only one that drinks coffee in our house.

Did you find it easy to get a good drink?
Yep. Massively user friendly and very smart.

First drink on each setting it will suggest a grind level and then after making the drink will change it if it thinks the flow through the filter is too slow/quick.

Also knows what shot basket is on the filter so it removes the drink options.
For example if using the luxe shot (basically a quad shot) it will only do filter coffee. Single or double shot will remove the filter option.
Based on strength and also mug size selected it will grind the exact amount required.

Milk frother also very good. Jug has a whisk part built in. So can have different levels of froth. If you use non dairy milk it has a setting for that.

Early impressions are I won't sleep this week.

I have a Nespresso right now but limited to just the pods they do. The coffee is OK, I reckon the Ninja looks worth the outlay and should be much better taste wise.

I picked up a Phillips bean to cup machine a few weeks ago to replace my knackered Delonghi. Had been trying to make do with various filters etc but it’s ace to have good coffee with 2 button pushes again.

Was watching the reviews about the Ninja and seems pretty good for your espresso drinks.

Not getting anything yet but will be buying something in a few months when kitchens finished. Feel I’d still want to do French press and filter/pour over drinks so debating just getting a good grinder but having quick access to decent espresso still appealing. Got a Nespresso bunged away somewhere but the wastage annoys me and prefer the more “real” coffee.

Our bean to cup coffee machine is the best kitchen gadget we've ever bought. It's very hard not to use it all the time all day, but I try not to have coffee after mid-day generally. I make up for it by having a minimum of 3 cups before it though.

I do exactly the same. 3 decent cups before lunch. I like the Phillips one as it does proper long cups.

We've been using Grumpy Mule beans recently, very nice they are too.

I much prefer Nespresso's own coffee pods to the Tassimo and Dolce Gusto pods I've tried. Tassimo I think were Costa and Kenco. Dolce Gusto I've had a few of their own (Nescafe..) and Starbucks/Costa. I'd say Nespresso > Dolce Gusto > Tassimo

Never going to be as good as something with fresh beans but I'm happy enough with Nespresso. When the pods come they have sometimes only been podded up a few weeks ago so kinda fresh I guess. Just does the coffee in various forms whereas the others do coffee with milk in one

Not sure that helps. For more faff you can get a Clever Dripper or Aeropress and your choice of ground coffee

If you are on about filter coffee then ignore me! And unless bean to cup prices went way down and I need to buy one then it's not those

If others drink hot chocolate a good persuasion point.

Wife used the milk jug part last night and popped in some Lindt choc powder with the milk. Lowest froth setting and it makes a lovely smooth hot chocolate.

A simple bit I like about this machine is all the small accessories for it are stored within the machine.

Still love my Aeropress and the day I can justify £500 on making espresso is the day I know I've made it in life 😂

I think my money would be better spent on investing in a decent grinder and getting better quality beans.

As i despise coffee and hot chocolate i will stick with my kettle for a cup of tea. Everyone here thinks I have two heads or something for not liking coffee but i am easy with this fault in my make up
