Climate Change Debate

Would your arguments for investing in R&D on nuclear power not apply to investing in R&D in renewables? I.E. it's only through investment in R&D that renewables can become cost effective/cheap/scaleable?

I don't have a problem with that, I have a problem with 'technology' rolled out that is not fit for purpose as a political fashion accessory that benefits nobody other than subsidy farmers.

Ok cool, just wanted to check that we do need to invest in renewables and this will allow us to ensure the tech is fit for purpose.

The great thing about science is that it's true whether you believe in it or not.

Physical processes may be an absolute but science is merely an expression of our understanding. Mankind is well capable of wilful damage but pollution can and is being managed. Sensitivity to carbon dioxide remains disputed.

I wont beleive it can work until theres one literally in my house.

Sounds good for coastal buildings but inland ones would probably have a large water bill to offset no electric bill.

Probably yes, but no doubt you'd have pooh-poohed the Dyson bladeless fans when the concept appeared.

Crazy that anybody thought to use electricity back in the day. I mean, we already had candles and all that infrastructure would be so expensive to install!
