Claims to Fame

A quality addition from the last time this thread was bumped has to be from when Me, Darlo, Aiki n co went to the Boro 2-1 away game and Darlo's son almost got into a fight with Sam from Love Island/Geordie shore. Now THAT is a properly naff celebrity encounter.

As mentioned previously in this thread I have pretty much no claims to fame.

One of the closest I got was Alexander Armstrong holding the door open for me at the Malmaison hotel in Birmingham. Ben Miller was with him too but he was less polite and would have let the door slam on me. The bastard.

I think that very much counts, mate. Rubbish claims to fame are much better than the ones about being noshed off by Nicole Kidman in Robert DeNiro's limo (that's why I haven't bothered putting that one up here).

It was fairly surreal.

My favourite one from here is Paddy catapulting prawn brains into Lorraine Kelly's hair.

Yes! Haha. I've told multiple people about both of those ones. Around the time of posting... I don't keep it as a convo starter :D

I'd forgotten about this;

I was at a house party having a boogie with Jo Whiley. Anyway, someone went into the back of us, I slipped and booted her really hard in the shin.

This has been mentioned on another thread somewhere, but I was pissed a few years ago - and was standing waiting to use a cash machine in Leamington Spa. My best mate was chatting to a reasonably good looking girl just in front of me. I thought it would be hilarious to walk up behind her and flick her hair, before introducing myself. Turns out it was Sophie Turner (aka Sansa Stark). I hadn't watched GoT at the time, so had no idea who she was. We had a chat for a bit but she left shortly after & my mate explained who she was. Bit of a stupid thing to do & my mate was gutted. Still, didn't stop him from having a bit of a kiss with her later on in the evening!

My Grandma was also friends with a chap who used to be a scout for Wrexham. When I was a kid, they arranged for me to get a guided tour of the ground etc. Darren Ferguson was there and spotted me wearing my Wolves shirt, so came over to speak to us. He had a few photo's with me and ended up taking over the tour. Despite my feelings towards his performances in a Wolves shirt, considering I was only a young lad, he was very polite and very complimentary about Wolves.

Ferguson was at Wrexham from 1999 to 2007. If you are any older than 35 you just simply have to be banned! :)

I got englebert Humperdinck stopped by airport security, back in the past I did airport transfers,so used to see stars milling about a lot, anyway asked him politely if I could have his autograph,he refused,so I said ooh I asked Tom Jones and he was great, had a chat and everything, yea well said englebert and stormed off, last seen in a strop at security giving it the don't you know who I am?
Saw Nigel Kennedy in the terminal at Birmingham, going on the villa team plane for an Anglo Italian cup match I think, asked him for the autograph, ended up talking to him for a good half hour,he only stopped talking when they were paging him to get on the plane.
Nearly ran Bernard cribbins over in Lincoln,he left it a bit late to run out across the crossing, superb driving skills saved the day,if I do say so myself
My best one I think was an invite to captain sensibles 50th birthday party, wangled that through going out with the girl who used to run the damned website

I’m 35 :icon_lol:

Just because (according spurious rumours elsewhere on the site) you may have been wearing a small boys shirt doesn't mean that at a minimum age of 15 you were a "kid" or "only a young lad". Whether you had the bollocks at that age to call him out for his shocking performances in a Wolves shirt is another matter! :icon_lol:

People I have served booze to:
Steve Collins
Nick Easter
Jade Goody
George Ezra
Frank Warren
Scroobius Pip
Various X Factor people

He has to wear an adult shirt in order to get it on over his massive dwarf forehead.

No need to be rude about the website - it can't be that bad!

Every time I see thread necromancy here it makes me laugh as I remember the Lorraine Kelly incident.

The Damned are the band captain sensible is the guitarist in(best English punk band, anyone who disagrees is wrong, but I'm willing to listen to arguments about the buzzcocks being in with a shout)

I wore Sir Alex Fergusons glasses and had a snoop through his notes, when he stayed at the hotel I worked in. He launched a book a few years ago and was in Dublin to give a speech at the launch of the book, and while he was doing that I was sent up to his suite to deliver his favourite red wine and make sure the room temperature was ok.

There was a stack of signed copies of the book on the table, and some notes for his speech. Was tempted to take a photo cos it had some juicy stuff about Roy, but thought better of it.

I met loads of famous people working in that hotel:
Graham Norton
Sean Hughes
Dave Gorman
Primal Scream
Andrea Bocelli
Roy Keane
Packie Bonner
The Script
The Wanted
Little Mix
Gerard Butler
M People
Ennio Morricone
Ian Rush
Rory McIlroy
...and more that I don't remember now

I met Dave Vanian and Roman Jugg when they were playing in the Phantom Chords. Princess Charlotte Leicester (yes - it's been demolished probably) the backstage was tiny and they were all happy for a chat after the gig.

I spoke to Nick Halling (yep him) on the phone at work once. I thought I really recognise this voice, then realised he's one of the guys who did the match voiceovers on the football league show on Channel 5.

That is all.

Did I mention David Icke? Had a truly bizarre telephone conversation with him once when he was very upset about the company I worked for refusing to stock his book about the royals being reptiles. Very very odd man.
