Chelsea (H) Carabao Cup R4: Build Up, Match & Verdict

Only saw last 30 mins but potentially a lot learnt from that I hope? Tolu seems decent, either needs to replace JSL or find a way to play both. I don't mind Wolfe either but basing it off a very small sample size

I'd play JSL and Tolu together as well. Might as well. It's not like Hwang ever offers anything whatsoever.

And Krejci needs to be on the pitch at all times.

Far from ideal but the only way we're going to pick points up is by playing ugly, direct football. The players aren't good enough to try and play decent football. So many of them are fucking hopeless.

Yes, the 2nd half was better but I'm not going to forget that 1st half. They didn't want to be there and that's completely unacceptable.

Team selection- crap
In game changes-odd
Set up clueless
Sa yep full of gob but zero substance again.
People on other SM platforms genuinely being duped by the comeback even though it can’t be classed comeback until you reach parity.
Still lost, still conceded a hatful and still spent one half looking defensively comical and none existent in midfield.
The fight is a positive but if you ask praising players for showing fight is praising them for the bare minimum requirements.

Both played well after such a bad start. Tolu error being costly.

This was a game between two Premier League teams, a 4-3 scoreline would suggest it was a great game. It wasn’t, it was shit. Wolves didn’t turn up in the first half, Chelsea went missing in the second. Sa…if we had played without a goalkeeper we would still have lost 4-3.

Plucky losers.

Show me good losers……and I’ll show you losers.

Not remotely buying into that “fighting spirit” shit.

That was utter spineless shit.

Chelsea are a massive soft touch so it won't work against everyone but we have to go all Stoke about things to have any chance.

That XI that finished the game were aggressive, strong and they couldn't really cope with the balls in the air. We had 4 CBs on the pitch (Krejci in midfield), Munetsi, Larsen. It's hard to cope with no matter you are.

We need to work on our throw-ins as well. So annoying. Can't retain the ball and lose all organisation. They scored what turned out to be the winner from our fucking throw.

Larsen also lets people get in front of him too easily. Tolu, aside from the horrific pass/touch for the opener, put himself about and naturally question why he wasn't used more often.

The bit I saw did not look like two Premier League teams. Not even sure it looked like two Championship teams

Chelsea just went to sleep, they could have beat us with 7 players. We're an embarrassment, let's not celebrate losing. The goals we scored were lumped into the box, nice finish for Wolfe's first but that's it.

I thought Wolfe and Agba did well, the rest were not as pathetic as fake injury doc or shit cunt Sa.

Agree fully.

This was not a "nearly did it fightback" to galvanise the troops or to celebrate. Chelsea didn't look like they cared in the second half if they progressed or not and random formations and harum scarum football are fine for a league Cup game but not in our position.

Agbadou pretending to be Maguire in his cameo forward role says a lot.

So, does that mean that Wolfe is Wolves top scorer, with 2 goals... (in one game), how could you leave him out of the next game?
And I'd find a way of playing Tolu and Larsen in every game going forward.
Wolfe is clearly rampant! 2 goals in one game!!

The fact no one had put up a post match thread just details the apathy that the fans have now.
Club is completely disconnected from the community in which it exists. Virtually all the players have zero relation to the local area or nation it is based in.
The pricing virtually prices out huge chunks of the local population.
Owners are completely out of touch with the fans.
Head coach has now reverted to patronising comments after squaring up to the fans and behaving like a Sunday league coach.

Couldn’t get on the site yesterday, still fucked off after Sunday and last nights game has only made it worse. Not sure what i’m most fucked off with, Fosun, Vitor, Vitor’s random team selections and subs, the daytrippers falling for the second half yesterday, it’s just everything.

That first half team selection, the sub when Doc got injured, the tactical switch when Vitor realised we were getting spanked that didn’t make it any better and has absolutely crucified poor Fer Lopez can get in the bin. That enough should be a sackable offence, as it basically lost us the game. Now i was in conflict with myself because my heart never wants us to lose but my head was thinking “i hope we get smashed 8-0” because he would have to go. The second half was spirited, aided by Chelsea switching off but it was actually proof that if we played that way i think we could get points in the league, it was similar to how we picked up points last year and is clearly effective against a lot of teams but it will be a complete one off and who knows what team Vitor will play Saturday.

Quite a few of our fans have been sucked in to it, now i can’t have a go at them for supporting the players and the club but we still need to make our voice heard on Fosun, Jeff and no doubt will have to about our manager again within the next 2 games.

Feels very much like winning the fifth test against the Aussies in the 90s after they've absolutely pummeled us in the rest of the series

That’s got to be some sort of record from Jose Sa?

I believe that’s 5 appearances, 11 goals conceded and ZERO saves this season 😂

I thought it was 12 in four. Moot point really. He's not stopped a single shot and actively assisting the opposition.
Nothing new there then.

Delap should be getting games added on to his ban the dirty bastard. Don’t know if it can though because of the old nonsense where the ref has “seen it”.

Well I'm going against the flow here, I actually enjoyed the second half, it was really exciting imo.
First half was terrible obviously with 3 individual errors leading to all their goals, even then I thought we created a couple of good chances, Tolu should have scored near the end of the half and Hwang should have done better when he volleyed over the bar.
We again 'created' more chances second half, in fact it seemed the most good chances we've had in a game all season.
Yeah I know it was mostly huffed and puffed but still, it made for a thrilling end.
Thought Wolfe was pretty decent throughout and when he went back into defence Agba looked something like last seasons version.
Gomes also played well. Krejci was excellent, wish we had 2 or 3 of him. When in midfield, he's much more than a destroyer.
On the downside we lost obviously and Pereira deserves the sack just for that first half line up.

It was exciting, but all we did was lump it in the box. As soon as Chelsea raised themselves they cut through us like butter. With our flaky defence its not sustainable.

I think it was DW who suggested this team, lets go full Pulis and go down in a haze of shithousery:

Johnstone
Mosquera - Agbadou - Krejci - Toti
R Gomes - J Gomes - Andre - Arias
Tolu - JSL
